A dude on the ocremix forums cooked up a Google Chrome app and webpage with basically the entire library of NES, SNES, GB, DS, and Genesis game OSTs (with some Saturn and Dreamcast soundtracks as well) ALL PLAYABLE IN THE FREAKIN' BROWSER.
Things look well organized (looks like he's used tagged NSFEs where possible), and he's even enabled channel muting for certain systems.

yea.
this site is good.

i want it to be the best so i figured we could talk about it here with any joys or problems.

issues:
-i noticed some bugs so far with playing "1500 DS Spirits Vol. 1: Mahjong." it started weirdly looping chunk after track 6. not sure if this is an issue with other games.
-some of the bigger rips take a while to download. not sure if that's gonna affect my enjoyment.
-not every rip is here. but not sure if that's cause those rips don't exist. the one missing was zork for saturn
-the scrollbox with the track listing should ..not be a scroll box but rather just a full list of tracks
-the visualization causes the music to skip when i make chrome the active window

features i want:
-click on composer name in track list and navigate to list of all games accross all systems with that composer
-keyboard shortcuts
-rating system/favorites !
-sort tracks in the list by the headings
-ability to fill in missing information like composers
-comments on each game page
-arcade osts
-john weeks is requesting a "fuck button." for when you want to say fuck this track

It's pretty awesome. Although it does skip for me when I'm loading a different site on a new tab, however that could be more due to my slow ass computer than anything.

It looks like he used some of the broken nsfe rips from slick's archive.

Pretty cool though.
Kind of sucks that it's Chrome only webapp though.
This is no place for a horse.

Issue:
The channels on DS game make little to no logical sense. It seems that each one just plays the next note from each instrument in sequence.

Well this guy gets my vote as he has both CVIII and Akumajou Densetsu in his Castlevania section. Good man, good man.

He's well aware of this issue. He didn't anticipate it, but eh. Technically still an optional feature.

If you know the guy, tell him he did a great job. The site is fantastic, and this is one of the very few issues.

Do you think he could add per-channel control for the genesis PSG?

Link No Bouken isn't loading fully for me, and I don't know if it's the player or my shitty unreliable work connection.

It's not an issue with the player, it's apparently just the way the DS handles audio:

Bad news! It really isn't very useful. Posted Image So far, all of the DS games I have studied use some kind of MIDI / channel scheduling scheme in which the next note is output on the next channel that happens to be free. Thus, if you disable all but one voice, you will hear a wide variety of instruments, not just, e.g., the rhythm or the bass line.

Apparently Battletoads in Battlemaniacs for the SNES does the same thing.
