I sold my 360 copy of Witcher II after playing an hour of it. It's quite good. However, I want to play it on the PC. And now I'm thinking I should get the first game. Maybe I should wait for a combo pack. I got a ton of other stuff to play right now anyway.
Target has (or had) it for $20.

It's hideously distracting.
So I am forced to play in DX9 mode because without motionblur the game just looks weird.
It doesn't have Split screen like the console versions (Mind you neither of them could manage that feat very well with the screen size and performance you got.) But it has LAN that can be played with 1 copy of the game if you own multiple computers.
One of the levels though(One of the first huge Akrid) is missing some weather effects for some reason in the PC version. So tradeoffs, tradeoffs.
Glad I own it on PS3 and PC.

If they do have a combo pack in the future I hope it is of both EE's.
I believe every version is now the EE. Even if you buy the standard versions, you can download the patch to bump that shit up for free from the developer.

DX11 is a further extension to DX10 IIRC(and DX10 was abandoned in favor of DX11 just as DX8 was for DX9.), DX11 offers better performance over DX9 but also options and extended stuff that can't be done in DX9 apparently. But most often you don't see performance increases because developers often include a bunch of DX11 specific stuff.I seem to see a lot of reported problems with DX11. And the recommendation is to revert to DX9.
So what ever happed to DX10?
(my explanation is probably retarded and won't make any sense ^^)
And honestly LP2 is the first problem i've ever had with all the DX11 games i've played. And it's only because of the Motion blur(probably uses something akin to the advanced motion blur in DX10 LP1;which if IIRC was Camera and Object MB;. But for whatever reason it's borked.) The water/explosions/Akrid/shadows all look even better with DX11. But I already put like 40+ someodd hours last year into playing the PS3 version which is far inferior visually. So it's a tradeoff i'm willing to make.
Most DX11 games look absolutely amazing.
Here are some Crysis 2 DX11 Shots (These were originally 1598X900 but Imageshack being the bastard that it is, seems to have resized them to half of what they originally were when I uploaded them a few months ago)

Well my new PC parts have all arrived, only I realized I needed one more fan and I forgot to buy a new router and cable modem so I can figure out once and for all whether or not Cox Cable is actually capable of providing high speed Internet.
Still have a lot of work to do. I put in all the components that don't attach to the motherboard (based on reader recommendations for the case). So the PSU is in as well as all fans and drives. Mobo next, then mobo components, cables, operating system, drivers, data transfer, software. Lots of work still.

DX11 is the best when done right. Gotcha.

Man, I haven't had the money to get a new PC like that for over a decade. I always really enjoyed assembling them and installing the OS fresh and all. I envy you, sir.
Though on the plus side, I haven't really needed to get a new PC in ages. The machine I have now is an older P4 that was given to me a few years ago and it does everything I want it to (like run old music editing software). It could use a better video card (anyone have an old AGP card better than a GEForce FX5500 they could donate?) and some more RAM (PC3200) if I could ever find some. You just don't realize what you can do with hardware until you can't afford to upgrade.

I have 768MB of DDR1 PC2100U RAM (both 266Mhz sticks)
And a 512MB PC3200 stick by Samsung (unknown speed)
as well a 256MB PC3200U stick by ProMOS @400Mhz
I love building PC's. I think cable routing is my favorite part. Just because I like to organize stuff I think.

I hate platformers, but I loved Braid. The time travel mechanics were great and even though it wasn't mind blowingly difficult, it had some very novel gameplay for a very novel game. I liked the first new Prince of Persia (sands of time) also, but it wasn't nearly as fulfilling as Braid. I'm biased towards ninjas, and being a time travelling sand ninja was cool.
Daggerfall, the second Elder Scrolls RPG, made a 3D game world that was actually comparable in size to the real world. Randomly generated, nonetheless, but impressive for a game THAT RUNS IN DOS. I remember hearing a friend first talk about it before it was released and he was saying that kind of shit and I thought "Cooper, you're so full of shit. You're always so full of shit. No 3D game like that could fit on a 500mb hard drive or whatever." Thanks for not being full of shit this time, Cooper.
Nethack started the randomly generated RPG dungeon, but it was sadly limited to text. Diablo took that idea into the visual realm, and did a bang up job.
Every first person shooter for many many years was basically just like Doom, until Counterstrike. Counterstrike started the tactical FPS multiplayer craze, and I hate Call of Duty for being worse but more popular.
Warlords and Heroes of Might and Magic really blended strategy with RPG conquest well, using heroes to lead armies to victory over other fantasy kingdoms in an incredibly satisfying way. Random maps gave hundreds of hours of fun on both.
Deus Ex combined FPS and RPG and utilized a good conspiratorial plotline. The RPG elements actually helped determine which different ways you could complete missions, making your character development choices matter (unlike many of the others that tried). In-game choices affected the outcome of the game, also a commendable and satisfying trait in a game.
Starcraft really took the strategy genre out from a serious constraint: cloned sides. Other strategy games almost always just had either minor differences between sides (like Age of Empires) or basically exactly the same sides. Starcraft really broke the mold in a way that was, most importantly, entirely balanced.
Obviously I'm biased towards RPG and strategy, so I'm sure there's plenty from other genres that you guys know about and I don't.
Also, what's the deal with this Stronghold Kingdoms? I like kingdoms, and I typically hold strong (spartan last stand). Maybe it's something good for me eh?

This is accurate.

I bought both on Steam as regular versions when they came out, and both are now EE's. It's funny (well I think so) that I have a Witcher product key in the Steam menus, but I don't actually need it for anything since they removed that stuff with a patch as well.
CD Projekt Red rocks.
I'm in the Epilogue chapter on Witcher, almost done.
