Big Jilm hooked me up with some nice nickel covers that fit my pickups at a very reasonable price. Whenever I get around to doing that, I'll take and post some pics.

in other news, the TDPRI challenge has finished up for the year.

Some really neat stuff out of the TDPRI challenge this year. A guitar made out of concrete, one out of Popsicle sticks, one out of yard sticks, one wrapped in gator hide, a tele shaped Gretsch-like guitar made out of metal, and one that was so meticulously covered entirely in the blueprints you can download to build your own tele.

i bought a 1x12 cab on the ebay today. its a fat, cubey, semi-open-back number made by seismic audio. haven't found a lot of reviews for them, but its made of plied birch, looks solid enough, and was within my price range, so i went for it.
you mean you forgot cranberries too?

Sweet, post pics!

The ones in the bottom photo.

I also posted this on Vintage Rocker (which has become the replacement for Birds and Moons since it went down last month). There were 16 people who responded and all said the same thing, lampshades FTW. I like it too. It's classy and the knobs don't disappear in certain lighting. A guitar with no knobs is a strange guitar indeed. So, these rectify that. Should be easier to twist the rotary too since they're knurled/textured/?/not smooth.

I was wondering what happened to BaM. But yeah, the lampshades definitely look better. If it were mine I'd probably have amber knobs though :P

I was wondering what happened to BaM.

Long story. The guy, Phil, that started it/owned it basically went AWOL for several years. The mods did what they could to keep it going but couldn't get the owner to do anything that only he could do (forum upgrades, etc). Finally it crashed. A lot of the BaM guys were already Vintage Rocker guys, so VR sort of became the go-to place. It took several weeks, but the guy who runs VR, Mike, ended up getting a hold of Phil, buying BaM from him, just to shut it down. The general consensus on VR from the former BaMmers was it was time to let that leaky ship sink and move on.

Simultaneously, PRS Guitars saw an opportunity and started their own forum. http://www.prsguitars.com/forum. That's not linked to publicly yet, sort of in its "soft opening" phase. But you can registaer and post if you want. IMHO, since it's official PRS, it has some advantages, but the major disadvantage is the lack of a "for sale" section. Obviously PRS is in the business of selling new guitars, the secondhand market only hurts them so they're not going to have that on their own forum.

John, pretty sure that thing belongs in the Elegant Men thread.

Unless it's a lady.

It's (not) a man, baby! Definitely a classy, elegant lady.

Yeah, my thoughts too  A worthy subject though. What scale length is it? And what's with that screw on the side of the neck?

And what's with that screw on the side of the neck?

That's the Gotoh truss rod fine-adjustment screw. There's a traditional heel adjust you use to initially set up the instrument, then the idea is that you don't have to remove the neck for fine tuning the truss rod.

Cool, does it work as well as it sounds like it would? I might have to try it if I ever build a neck again.
