Next month's competition will be centered around MagFest! Don't worry, if you can't make it, you'll still get a chance to vote and listen.

There will be a live listenening party and all sorts of fun stuff going on. If I don't make it (I'll try my best) then I'll force norg and Creeper to do my bidding. The due date for next month is therefore January 13th, Midnight PST, or before the listening party if you're going to be at M4 and just want to give me a CD with your file ASAP.

So we'll have two month and a half long contests and then normality.

Congrats to everyone who competed and thanks to the reviewers this month, you guys make my day.

Uhm, Creeper, can you do a bunch of retagging and html editing? No way the comp will last that long.

Well damn, it worked.

Anyway, just wanted to say a few comments here.. Hat, I liked your song :) DrBlackJack, you're really improving there, I was honestly surprised at your entry. Also, The Akkadian, I really liked the structure of your song (especially with the buildup at spots) please work on your lead tone and turn off autowah. Rexy, nice work on the megamedley there, there are great spots. Also welcome all newcomers :) Hope you got something out of the competition.

edit: we had 313752 hits during November and used 221 GB of bandwidth. I owe virt so much for saving DoD's ass.

woo, I got votes!

seriously, I should have said this earlier, but I had to record on my laptop because I couldn't get the mic in time for the comp, which accounts for the crappy mix job, and two of the players that were playing with us were sightreading the piece, so intonation was way off from normal...next time it'll probably just be myself and rend, no more dragging other saxophonists with me.

oh, and if anyone cares, I was the guy playing bari, rend was playing soprano. Probably won't see us again till January's DoD, just so I have enough time to get recording equipment together.

Votes: Holy crap!

RPG Month: Holy crap!

For the Love of Creativity - updated September 1st, 2010 (new song up for download)!

Concatenation Records - updated August 2nd, 2010 with the release of Ryan8bit's new album 2010.8.2!

I should hopefully have at least one VG disc ready this year - it's a catch-all with half-old (but re-recorded/rearranged), half-new VG tunes from various systems. I'm still sorting through all the tunes, so if you have any suggestions - holla!

Songs left to do this year - what do you get when you cross an elephant and a rhino?

RPG Month! As tedious as they are to play, I'd do anything to make some music there and help out the people of RPGamer.com.

And... man, I was kind of surprised with the results back there. I thought norg did Potato (which I thought was going to win), but if it's SnappleMan, that's game enough for us ;) Rose of Solemn... I was thinking a collab between Ashane and Ryan8bit, but that's still ok if gone solo. And... haha, I had Circe down for Snowflakes; didn't know House would do something as pretty as this.

I think the only track I guessed correctly was Forfallen's O_o

Nonetheless, as small a DoD as it was it worked fine, so well done to everyone.
And on top of that I've got high hopes for this RPG month we speak of, and the span was good timing; we all have holidays to celebrate this month. Dwelling of Scrooge? One would think.

For the record, I was kind of hoping to use the Anon DoD account in the last stages to clear up any thoughts on what I used in my mega-medley and the range of notes on a piano, but go figure, that's the price for messing around with SNES games for god knows how long, haha. I'll bring up the ordering here anyway.

Quote

00:00 - In the Dead of Night (Solo)
00:20 - Fear of the Heavens (Solo)
01:36 - What The Forest Taught Me (Duet)
02:53 - The Boy Aims for Wild Fields (Quartet)
04:15 - A Rose and a Ghost (Quartet)
05:45 - Flight into the Unknown (Quartet)
07:24 - A Wish (Solo)
08:22 - The Wind Never Ceases (Duet)
09:08 - Secret of the Arid Sands (Quartet)
10:01 - The Dark Star (Duet)
11:03 - Still of the Night (Duet)
12:40 - Whisper and Mantra/Mystic Invasion (Duet)
13:19 - Prophecy (Triplet)
14:29 - Give Love Its Rightful Time (Quartet)
15:26 - Give Love Its Rightful Time/One Of Theme Is Hope (Quartet)
16:19 - Meridian Dance (Quartet)
17:50 - Now Flightless Wings (Quartet)

I also saw norg mentioned something about piano panning. I said what the pianos were mainly required for, so I'll slip them in here too along with the pannings.

Deep notes and minor melodies - L25 (omitted in solos and duets)
Main piano - L10
Support piano - R10 (omitted in solos)
Higher-registration support - R25 (omitted in solos, duets and triplets)

I hope I cleaned up everything; at this monent in time I've only been awake for less than an hour.

Yes, it's in America, but it basically means it's a Music and Gaming Festival.

Man I'd do anything to live in your godforsaken country :(

I love the image for this month

I admit it's because of the virt-thing at the bottom

does this magfest thing mean that you shan't compete if you're not able to go there?
I MIGHT be able to compete with an awesome rpg song idea

20hz to 20khz

Music is a puzzle with 19.980 pieces, and only a few of them go together

OMFG, I can't believe we beat HouseTheGrate! It was tough, too, because that snowflakes song was FSCKING METAL. Congraturations everyone. There were a lot of wicked tracks!!

RPG Month: I knew it would happen, I've been waiting for it, and I love it. I've got some ideas already.

P.S. Riders, I told you we'd make it into the top 5. :D

You're lucky, because those hi-hats sucked. :P (see listening party log, I think, or maybe just the WCS verbal log) I think housethegrate has solidified himself completely as one of the more stylistically varied of people here. As for Rexy and Forfallen, good to see both of you higher up on the list this time around.

And as usual, a free round of "congrats" to everyone is on me.

HAHA. I should've switched the sample on the IT file. I agree, those were HORRIBLE HATS. You could call them crap hats. They even hurt my ears, and I listen to glitch! I didn't notice that until after I submitted! We made it to 5 because of Riders and his ultra guitar/bass skills. That keyboard I used for this had some shitty line noise because it's like a Radioshack 20 dollar keyboard for kids.
I didn't compress the whole thing because I was afraid of it clipping or something. I'll be sure to do it next time.

House can do any genre, even polka, boy band pop, and gangsta rap.
