December, 31, 2002 HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL YOU FREAKS OUT THERE AND REMEMBER, IF YOU DRINK DON'T DRIVE, THE COPS WILL BE EVERYWHERE TONIGHT!! TAKE A TAXI OR STAY HOME!! WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! |
December, 30, 2002 Damn, why do the years have to go by so fast? It seems like only yesterday when I used to get busted for underage drinking and all I worried about was if I should spend money on beer or on food. Now as I get older I know the proper choice is beer. I also remember when I used to think Budweiser was the beer of choice if we had the money, otherwise we were drinking natural light, busch, or olympia beer. aaaahhhh those were the days. Marty had an outstanding christmas party and I met some cool people, I was also really drunk and don't remember alot of things about it, that's how good it was. |
December, 27, 2002 I had a good christmas. I got clothes which is a good thing, been really hectic at work. I have been in my own little world for awhile now but plan on changing that soon. Tonight is Marty's annual Christmas party, it should be fun. Anyone who wants to go should email me call me IM me or get a hold of one of my represenatives for information on how to get to Marty's party. From what I understand there should be a keg, and it should be decent beer, no bud light or coors light. Might as well live it up now since the world is supposed to come to an end in 2003 according to Nostradamus, even though it was actually supposed to blow up last year. |
December, 23, 2002 I have come to the realization that I am not crazy. It took me awhile to figures this out, I thought for the longest time I was going insane. But it finally occurred to me that is not the case, however, everyone else besides myself is in fact very crazy and should have themselves turned in. Everyone except Wesley Willis, that man is a genius. Christmas is finally coming, I made it a point not to get anyone anything for christmas. So please make it a point not to get me anything, with that being said I want to point out that Brian Elser is a jerk. |

December, 17, 2002 Getting stalked is not the greatest thing in the world, it is very overratedand is not worth the time and money spent on purchasing little gadgets like pepperspray and semi-automatic weapons. But I love stalking people so what can I say. I am thinking of getting a motorcycle and after talking to Marty will probably get something along the lines of a buell. I think that would totally rock. People have found out I am a posuer and I am okay with that, it just blows me away that it took them so long to find out. It's actually kind of depressing.Oh well, life goes on I guess. I am talking weird, I know this, please ignore and I will be normal next time. |
December, 13, 2002 I hung out with Leslie Barton last night, I got to look at alot of press kits and look at some cool flyers and stuff. It was pretty cool seeing the Modified Headquarters. Tonight is gonna be HOTFOUGHTCOLD over at Nita's Hideaway. I am writing this kind of late in the day, but it has been really hectic around here. AAAAAHHHHHH!!!! Everyone have a great weekend! |
December, 10, 2002 I got my haircut yesterday, I must not do it that often because it seems like everyone freaks out whenever I do it. Maybe I should just keep my head shaved like Fred and Ben, but I got so many bumps and scars on my head it would look horrible. Last night I got to see Brodie Hubbard played at the modified, he seems like a really nice guy, seemed pretty down to earth singing about people who used to pick on him and the women of his past. Next was Wonderful Wednesday who was really cool, I would like to see what he sounded like with a full band. The Budget Sinatra played and scared alot of people away, but the highlight of the evening was this band called The Badger King They were so awesome, they reminded me so much of They Might Be Giants, it was really cool. If you like TMBG, except with a girl singer then check them out. Okay enough blabbering, I always feel like I blabber too much on here, but then again this is kind of my only outlet so I guess I have a right to blabber. |
December, 09, 2002 I have noticed that the only way stuff gets done is by doing it yourself (a little bit of work related rant). I was pretty much sick all weekend, I went to first friday's and saw some cool stuff and then went to long wongs. I wish I would have made it to see HotFoughtCold, I guess there is always next time.(there will be more to come, I have to take care of some business right now) I lost my voice on friday and pretty much stayed home all weekend. I was gonna go to an open mic but I lost my voice again and just stayed home and slept which is what I have needed for awhile. Sorry Julie I meant to go to the bad Xmas pageant at the paperheart, I loved what you did last year. Tonight is The Badger King over at the modified these guys are cool, a girl singer with really witty lyrics, along with the budgets sinatra, wonderful wednesday and brodie hubbard. This friday is HotFoughtCold with 90 day men and guests at Nita's, Check it out or die. |
December, 01, 2002 This year went quick, alot has happened, lots of open mics, crashed parties, first friday's, art detours, incestivals, bands breaking up, bands forming. I know alot people say the scene sucks, and to a point I would agree but I would say that right now the scene is alot better than what I have seen in the past and it's so cool to go to a show and see so many familiar faces. I had alot of fun this weekend. Friday I saw some acoustic stuff done by Sweet Catastrophe, and Niki Kwik, they were all really nice and seemed pretty cool. I went some bar in phoenix and saw a cover band who had Lonna play some songs, that was good to see Lonna play. I haven't heard her in such a long time. Saturday was the stoner rock night of the year. I showed up at the Alley at 5:30 and didn't leave till 1:00. It was so awesome, if I hadn't worn earplugs I know my ears would have bled. Richard Minardi and his girlfriend had to leave cause it was so loud. After any Accident was awesome, and it was cool seeing Fred and Theo playing on a few songs. Tros Pistoles played their last show which is sad but I know we will see more from all those guys. The Fvck Computers did not dissapoint, there was a pretty good crowd and some lady with big boobs was trying to mac on Ben but he was too much into the music to bother. |
November, 29, 2002 I had a wonderful thanksgiving this year, it started early Wednesday eveningand was nonstop untill late last night when I left the original "house of ribs" and had an awesome meal with some homebrews and lots of wine. I will have to say this will be one of my more memorable thanksgivings. Who cares about that stuff when the Fvck Computers are playing tomorrow night at the Alley. Make sure to bring some earplugs, I have missed them previously but I will definitely be at the alley to support them, Trois Pistoles, and After Any Accident. Tonight there is a benefit show for the innercity garden in Phoenix. Members from Before Braille, Bella, The Winners, The Vinegar Sting, and more will be rocking out acoustically. |
November, 26, 2002 I have been a little out of it, and missed all the cops busting up parties over the weekend. I have been so busy trying to get my own stuff together that it's been a real hassle doing anything. I finally got me a Van though! Woohooo, I am so excited about it. Tomorrow is Jesse Maxwells Birthday he finally turns the big 21! Muahahaha Thanksgiving is coming upon us and we should all take the time to learn how to shutup for awhile and not get all riled up about things that don't really matter. Learn that by giving you don't necessarily have to give back but if you don't want them to get pissed off you should give something back (this is especially true where women are concerned). Remember that if anyone wants to get me something and they don't know what to get me, just give me a card. I am too lazy to return things and I am too nice to say I don't want it. If you think what I am saying is pretty bizarre, you are not alone, I can't believe I just said all of that. It's toooo freakin early in the morning. Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! |
November, 19, 2002 I saw the van of my dreams on sunday while going to practice, I will not say anymore about because I do not want anyone buy it out from under me, but I will say it is not as cool as the A-Team Van but it's still cool. Some girls were telling me I will never get any chicks with a big conversion van but I will prove them wrong! Anyways, I missed all the shows this weekend, I will not say what I actually did because it just really isn't that important. Or is it? No it's not. My friend Brian Shire turns 22 on friday, I know he doesn't read this (or at least I don't think he does) and I need to find out what to do for him friday. There appear to be no shows going on, so I don't know. Last year I bought him porn for his birthday and for those of you who were there I don't think I will do that again, because some weirdo kept trying to buy the porn mags off of him. If anybody has any ideas let me know. |

November, 14, 2002 Wow, I am on a roll lately. I don't usually post on a daily basis like this, maybe it's my diet. For those of you interested, I was able to successfully switch the domain name over to a different company which took a shorter amount of time then I expected. I am very happy with godaddy.com so far and they are actually based out here in the valley so if I have any real issues I can drive over there and yell at them. So the domain has safely been renewed for another year. Woooohoooo. I went to my home away from home last night, The Hollywood Alley and I got too see Jeordie, Brian Frazee, Liberty School, Fatigo. Jeordie smiles more than anyone I have ever seen. She always seems happy. Brian Frazee was a one man band who played keyboards, bass, and guitar for each song and would loop each part and then add the next instrument it was really amazing. Liberty School was really good, Marty from Vin-Fiz killed the original guitarist from Liberty School so that he could be in the band. It sounded great, Marty has his own distinct sound which anyone who has heard Vin-Fiz knows, and it fits very well with what Liberty School is doing, I really want to see Marty and Mike play together again and see how that turns out. Hopefully, it will be awesome. I had to be at work by 7 in the freakin morning and it was a helluva time trying to get up this morning so I missed the Fatigo show, but I am sure they rocked the night. |
November, 13, 2002 I ate some chinese food today at work, there was so much I couldn't ninish it. I am now sitting here hours later with the stench of old chinese food behind me. It was really good but the smell is definitely lessening my wonderful food eating experience. I am finally getting my butt in gear to renew the domain name for theshizz.org. I have to transfer it first and then renew it and it takes 7 days to do. I hope the website doesn't go down because I didn't renew it on time. |
November, 11, 2002 I was threatened to post a journal entry today or else my life would be at stake by a commuter while I was waiting at a stoplight this morning. I never thought that I would see the day when fame would actually take control of my everyday duties. I have become more reserved and have become afraid of the general public. It's weird walking into a room full of strangers and they all know who you are and you can tell they are sizing you up by the weird glares they give you. Okay, okay, I have never experienced that, and hopefully never will, but I did get threatened that I needed to post a journal entry or else......... Friday was a cool night at the lucky dragon, the winners played for the first time in months. I got to see Underliner which is a really cool band, I totally dug their stuff. Afterwards Colorstore took to the stage which I think is a really cool band, one of the singers is kinda weird, I hope that he is just hitting himself in the head for show, if he really does that on a regular basis he needs medication. Saturday I flaked out of going to LongWongs because I hate parking on mill and went to the Hella show at stinkweeds. Financial Panther opened up, which I thought was really cool, some pretty angry people. Hella was a two piece just guitar and drums, no vocals or anything, I thought they were so amazing, it reminded me of Joe Satriani/Van Halen type playing but they were dressed so Indy it was really weird. Maybe two hand tapping is coming back, and if it is, I will be there!! Sunday I went and saw Lulu in Hollywood, which rawked the alleged casbah, electronica style. Someone thought I was 22 and I was so thankful for the comment, it sucks getting old. Maserati was cool, very lulling, so I got sleepy and went home and didnt' get to see the last band. Instead I went to bed so I could get up early enough to be threatened to post another journal entry. |
November, 08, 2002 Fatigo got a write up in the newtimes, which is totally awesome. Congrats guys, pickup this weeks newtimes and check it out. I think Mary put a link up to the review on the fatigo message board if you are too lazy to pick one up. The Winners (who are huge in australia by the way) are playing their first show tonight, along with the Billy No Mates, Underliner, and Colorstore. Should be a good show. Saturday HFC is taking back the night at long wongs, and Sunday Lulu in Hollywood is gonna rock the house at the modified. There is also a band called Elmore which I have not yet heard live yet, but am interested in checking out that is playing in scottsdale tonight at On the Rocks @ 9:30. Have a good weekend and I will see you folks on the message board Muahahahahaha |
November, 06, 2002 I am really being horrible lately. I havn't been to any of the shows that I wanted to go to. I did get to talk to the beautiful Leslie from the modified, she definitely made my evening, and I realized why she is always so happy whenever I see her. HotFoughtCold is gonna be taking back the night on saturday along with the Necronauts and 15minutes @ long wongs. Does anybody listen to the radio? I remember when "altermative" was the cool word to use when describing the type of mainstream music you listened too. The Edge took full advantage of that and called themselves alternative radio. Now just recently I heard The Edge call themselves "Independant Radio". That is about the biggest load of crap of I heard in a long time. I don't mean to get on my soapbox, but I am going to anyways. The majority of people listening to that probably believe it and don't know that there are Edge Radio stations all over the country! AAAHH!! I better get back to work before I.......... |
November, 04, 2002 After Any Accident is playing tonight with Underliner and Elmore at Nita's Hideaway. Check that out people if you can, It being a monday and all isn't the best night of the week to be playing, so we need to give them as much support as possible. I finally went to First Friday's and saw alot of really cool stuff, I didn't know it was such a big thing and I had never seen the bikini lounge so packed before. I am definitely going next month and checking it all out. I saw a band called the madcaps play on a truck driving around, I didn't get a very good first impression from them, but I know I don't always give a good first impression so I will check them out again. Saturday night I fell asleep at 6pm woke up at 9pm hungry and drove around for two hours looking for food. I finally settled for taco bell but had to go to the drive through because the lobby was closed, I spilled my burrito on my pants and then I decided to go to the movies with a big bean and cheese stain on my pants and saw Punch Drunk Love. It was really cool movie, I suggest going to that movie with another person, I went by myself and I think I was the only single person there, it was kind of weird. Maybe going to the movies by myself was kind of weird, I don't know. |
November, 01, 2002 Damn, I just remembered I have to renew the domain name soon or the shizz will be gone, this website has been up less than a year and it has really grown into something. I never would have thought that the website would be a place anyone other than myself and a few friends would check out everyonce in awhile. In the past year I have learned that I have to watch out what I say or people will take it the wrong way. I have learned that their are some real freaks out there and I am alot more scared of them than when I was younger. I have learned that by being quiet, some people think I am an asshole instead of just being shy. I have learned that I am starting to vent right now and I better shutup. I hope nobody got to sick from eating too much halloween candy. I went trick or treating and then saw Malcolm X (the movie, not the man, since he is long since dead) I thought the movie was pretty cool and was not what I expected. I am very glad I saw it. I am currently listening to the HotFoughtCold EP, "Ugly Kids in Vintage Clothing" is such a cool song, anyways.... Some cool shows this weekend, I know tonight Employee of the Moth is playing sans their lead Guitarist Jacob whose father passed away, recently. My thoughts and best wishes go out to Jacob and his family. Tonight is also First Friday's in central Phoenix and Johnny from Mollusk Records is having his first showing of his artwork at The Paperheart Gallery. Have good weekend people and be safe! |
October, 28, 2002 Wow it has been over 10 days since my last post, I took a week off and wanted to be completely free for awhile, (which was awesome) I got to focus on some music hang out with some cool people and live the good life for awhile stress free. I went to some cool shows and I want to thank everyone who showed up to the shizz party. Thanks go out to Transgojobot who are awesome and kind enough to play, thanks to Jesse for hosting the party and all the people that drank the Fat Tire and not the bud light crap (no offense to those who like bud light, but it really does suck) Aaron and Leslie and Brian and Jenny Elser tied for the coolest couple Costumes they were awesome, if you wanna know what they were you will have to ask them. There were alot of booty camp girls in camo and berets but I think they were under 21 so I tried not to look at them too much. I finally have everything ready to start a comp and will be announcing bands soon as well as getting everything underway for the shizz comp. More on that later, but first a word from our sponsor......... |
October, 18, 2002 Last night was an awesome show I had never seen black heart procession before and they were so amazing. The singer reminded me of the lead singer from Lynyrd Skynyrd. I got to see the first 1/2 of Calexico but had to leave early because I have to be at work at 7 in the freakin morning. I am hungover and hurting really bad, it's all self induced pain, but it still hurts. Calexico was really good, as I was walking out I saw the Mariachi band getting ready to go on stage, I wish I could have seen that. Tonight at the modified is Esposito, The Budget Sinatra (ben baraldi on drums) and a band from Orange County that I keep forgetting their names. Check it out |
October, 17, 2002 Damn it's thursday already? I feel like the weeks are so short now and I don't get anything done, I am totally addicted to the message board, which I am gonna have to ween myself off of. It's a terrible addiction that I wouldn't want to wish on anyone. My eyes get all bloodshot, I have to get a new mouse from clicking the refresh button too many times, it's even interrupted my regular porn surfing. Tonight is Calexico, Black Heart Procession and ....and Guppies Eat Their Young. I am gonna try my darndest to get their, hopefully it's not sold out! I haven't bought a ticket yet so who knows. Stay away from the message board at all costs, believe me it's not worth losing all that time which you could be spending on watching dirty pictures on the net, or going to McDonald's because You Deserve A Break Today! |
October, 14, 2002 Friday was cool. The Guppies and 1/2 Visconte played a great set at Nita's Hideaway. Lot's of people there. I hadn't seen Aaron Burke in such a freakin long time but he seemed preoccupied with his girlfriend. Some guy was harrassing Matt Wood and I untill we just walked away so he could tell other people his life story. Lot's of fun all in all. Hung out with Jesse and he showed me the most bizarre video called Yatta. I will not describe too you how wrong and distorted this was but I will never sleep well at night again. Saturday I saw a movie called "Rules of Attraction" One of the best movies I have seen in a while. I loved the ending, it was perfect. Sunday I helped some girl make an interview tape to submitt to some teen idol thing. It was weird and I noticed how different the pop world is from how I am used to things. Very weird indeed. Tomorrow is payday and I will be sooo happy |
October, 10, 2002 Last night was cool, Lulu in Hollywood, Fatigo, Employee of the Moth, and 1/2 Visconte played. I had never seen 1/2 Visconte before and they were really awesome, unfortunately I couldn't see them finish. I had to go home so I could get to work by 7am. I am still hurting from last night, I even forgot to close my tab, so I have to go back after work and get my debit card back. I got to see Lonna whom I haven't seen in a long freakin time. I have noticed the older I get the weirder I am getting, and I don't mean this in a good way. I am not just talking about weird mannerisms or the issues I have with asparagus. But physical issues as well. I have GRAY HAIR, not just on my head, I have gray hair in my freakin nostril hair. This is very depressing. Oh well, I guess I should be thankful I have nostril hair. I would really feel bad if I didn't have any. Can you imagin what it would be like to not have nostril hair? I can and it isn't pleasant. Okay, I have said too much |
October, 08, 2002 Tonight is Party of Helicopters, The Necronauts, Hotfoughtcold, and Pseudocon at the Lucky Dragon, It starts really early like around 6pm, totally cool if you want to go to a happy hour, but you still have to pay a cover and full price for alcohol, which sucks. Whoa I was starting to vent, now is not the time for me to vent. Sunday I was sitting at home in my underwear watching a movie and I thought to myself, I should put some clothes on in case anyone comes over. I put on some pants and later on I was practicing on the guitar when Richard Minardi unlocks the door and walks in. I didn't know what in the world was happening. I guess Mike Montoya gave him a key to help him unload some equipment he was bringing back. I was trying to hide behind my guitar as I was talking to Montoya and Minaardi because I am pretty modest. I was so happy I had pants on. From now on I will make sure to be fully clothed when practicing. Lot's of cool shows this week, hopefully I will see ya'll around. And don't forget big Party at Jesse Maxwells (employee of the moth) House on October 26th! |
October, 07, 2002 Wow, okay, so it has been awhile since my last post. I have been busy with other stuff and blah blah blah. Okay, but seriously, I have been busy. Work sucks and I don't know what else to say except, Friday was Adrienne's Birthday she turned the big 21 and we all took turns trying to get her drunk. It seemed like she drank alot but I couldn't tell if she was or not. Members of EOTM and AAA as well as TP and MB were there (I just had to do that). Saturday was a cool show at the Hollywood Alley, Liberty School sounded really good, and they had a surprise guitarist riffing away through the set. Fatigo played and brought Darryl up from Liberty School to sing City Mouse which was an old Vin-Fiz tune. Next up was Stew and the Negro Problem. I guess I disrespected him by talking to Jesse with my back turned to the stage while Stew was playing. When he finished one of songs I didn't know he was talking about me untill he started mocking my sideburns. I think he wanted me to say something back, but I was shocked that he was heckling me I didn't know what to say. He was alot bigger than me so I didn't say anything. I did a couple of tequila shots with Fred and John and then went home. Make sure to go to Nita's on Wednesday, Lulu In Hollywood, Fatigo, Employee of the Moth, and Dick Sinister and The Sinister Dicks will be playing. Should be a fun time for all! |
October, 01, 2002 Okay okay, I know the site was down, we had some technical difficulties, but I want to thank Lucas for getting all the necessary stuff done. I got alot of calls and it makes me happy knowing that both of you were concerned enought call :) In other news this Saturday is going to be a big BIG treat. Stew and the Negro problem are playing at the hollywood alley with Fatigo and special guests all the way from Tucson, Liberty School. Those guys are so awesome I can't wait to see them and I have to say that it will definitely be a night to remember. There will be alot of dropped jaws at this show for sure. Muahahaha I guess that's it, I am just so stoked about the site being back up. One more thing, a big THANK YOU goes to Jesse and the guys from Employee of the Moth, they put a thank you to the shizz on their new cd and that means everyone who is involved with the contribution of good music whether it's listening too or making it as all included in that thank you. We are also having a Halloween Party on Oct 26th. More details later, but it's free to get in as long as you have a costume otherwise it's 5 bucks. I will write more later.......... |
September, 26, 2002 I have never seen any of the GodFather Series untill this week, right now I am in the middle of the Godfather part II. It's amazing how Michael changed into his father when originally his intentions were to dissassociate with the family in the beginning. Okay, I don't know why I even brought that up. This has been a pretty good week. The stats are picking up on the website, I just created a message board for Lulu In Hollywood. Definitely check it out and give these guys a listen if you can. I played an open mic last night and it has been so long since I have done that, I was petrified. I couldn't look up. My voice was quivering and my fingers were shaking. I can't wait to do it again! Mike is doing his acoustic Mayhem once a month, I think Lonna should do one once a month too at the alley. Are you reading this Lonna? You better :) Okay that's all I better go before I start babbling and telling you about that one time when I......................... |
September, 25, 2002 I see that people read this every so often, which is cool. I can't believe anyone actually spends there time reading this but, hey I put it up here so I guess people should read it. Alot of stuff is going on this weekend, tomorrow night Fatigo is playing at Chasers with Wasting July. Friday AAA, Trois Pistoles and HotFoughtCold is playing at The Hollywood Alley, Saturday is Employee of the Moth at the Hollywood Alley. Their are other shows but you have to go to the calendar to check them out like Lulu in Hollywood at Essenza's and other cool stuff like that! We might have a Shizzrific Halloween party look at the message board for updates. I think that will be awesome if we can pull that off. |
September, 23, 2002 I had an awesome weekend, Jonny Bionic had his cd release party on friday and I had such a great time listening to All the different bands play their rendition of his songs. I got to see old friends from long ago, I wish I could have hung out with them longer but I was happy with amount of time I got to see them all. I really wanted to go to the AAA show in Tucson but I was scheduled to work so that really sucked, and Sunday I saw Buffalo '66 which is an awesome movie. All in all, I had a great weekend, or maybe I just blurred out all the bad stuff. Who know's? |
September, 17, 2002 It's so bizarre how life is. It seems like all of a sudden everything sucks and you go into a depression. Now I realize things weren't so bad, but they are getting worse and yet I am really starting to feel good about alot of stuff. I know I can't please everyone (that has been proven time and time again). I am just in a good mood right now. We will see how things are 24 hours from now. Muahahahah (no I am not on any hallucinogens) Today is the birthday of Trixie Delicious from The Budget Sinatra (soon to change there name to something else). She turned the big 21 and is finally allowed in bars that serve alcohol. Sunday was a blast at the Alley, acoustic mayhem went over very well in my opinion and I saw some amazing players there. The Moch Jockey's were cool and I can't wait to hear more of their stuff. The message board is getting a little crazy and I have to laugh to keep from crying myself to sleep. Cool shows coming up this week. Fatigo on Thursday at the modified, AAA is playing with the Vinegar sting in Tucson on Friday, and Johnny Bionic will be having a cd release party on friday as well in Phoenix at the Emerald Lounge. Tucson people better watch out because AAA is playing at some Junkyard I guess and that will definetely be a sight to see. I hope I can go and skip work for that one! |
September, 11,2002 It has been over a week since my last post, I must be getting lazy, I have been going through alot of stuff lately and have ignored my duties to the shizz. For that I apologize. Other than that, how the hell is everyone today. I wore red white and blue in remembrance of 9-11. Let's see, I got to see Lulu in Hollywood and Employee of the Moth this past friday Lulu had some technical issues but it was cool seeing and hanging out with for a bit. Employee of the Moth was awesome and I am trying to get certain things setup for something exciting and new with Jesse. Last night I was at hollywood alley checking out some new stuff. I was so tired all I did was eat some wings and go home. I guess that is it for now. I am at work and need to get some stuff done before people start yelling at me. |
September, 03,2002 Another holiday weekend has finally come to an end. Now I know why weekends are usually only 2days. I don't think I could handle 3 day weekends on a regular basis. Friday was cool, Braeburn played an awesome set. Each one of those guys are awesome in the band, Ben on guitar, Joe on drums and Merrily on vocals. They are amazing. Fatigo played and they had some new music which was very refreshing. Gil has done a great job taking over on bass and vocals he looks a little out of place in the band, but makes the dynamic that more cool. The budget Sinatra played and it was Eirean Bradley's (a.k.a. Jimmy Chonga Vanity) last show. The Baritone guitar player was a little to drunk to know what was going on but all in all they survived. 15 minutes fast headlined the night, they played there hearts out and broke a few strings. By the end of the night the full indy assault had left it's mark and all were happily drunk and on there way home. Saturday was cool, it was the first time I had ever been to jugheads, totally disgusting SteveO video showing everything from people taking a poop to a guy stapling his nuts to his thighs. Very gross, I got very drunk there too and hung out with some of the HFC guys. the first band was pretty cool I thought, very punk rock called The Lullaby League, they played a short set mostly because almost all of there songs were less than a minute long, next up was Reburn and the Skidmarks, they were a bit more contemporary punk (if there is such a thing) but punk none the less, being that it was punk night at jugheads. Hot Fought Cold played, although they had some minor technical difficulties. Luckily Minardi had his Traynor and they were able to rock the casbah. Next up was Transgojobot which closed out the night and made for an excellent evening. Totally cool show, especially since you could watch people puking and getting peed on for no extra charge on the television sets. Crazy stuff. Sunday was another night at the modified which was a benefit for the womens shelter. I missed the first two acts, but I was fortunate to see braeburn play, and the world class thugs. Both of those bands compliment each other so well. I really love both of the those bands. If only I had a recording! Very cool indeed. I think I have said enough. There is plenty of stuff going on this week. Check some shows out and help support the local scene. (am I starting to sound like an advocate, I hope not). |

August, 29,2002 I think Fred Johnson is stalking me, everywhere I go he is there. As long as he is not an assassin I will be fine. This Friday every band on the planet is playing even though it might not be on the calendar it has been stated on the message board. hotfoughtcold, afteranyaccident, necronauts, emily ayn band, and tempe tramps will be playing at the lucky dragon levines, youknightednations, ithica chapter, the kyds vs. columbus are playing at some house party email me or one of the members of the other band as to where that badboy is going to be. And finally braeburn, 15 minutes fast, the budget sinatra, and fatigo (not particularly in that order) are playing for Eirean Bradley's birthday and also for his farewell from The Budget Sinatra, he has payed his dues and is now an official shizz alumnist with a purple heart for putting up with all my crap, not that I haven't had to put up with his :) this gathering will be held at the Hollywood alley. It seems like all the same bands are playing at all the same places, which is cool at first because you know the scene is in certain areas, and you start to feel comfortable at Hollywood Alley, or the Lucky Dragon or Modified, but it kinda gets boring after awhile and I have noticed people complaining that everyone needs to spread out. Which is why I really want to check out HFC and Transgojobot on saturday, they are going to be playing at Jugheads which I guess is on like 42nd street and mcdowell or somewhere near there. Also there is a show at the paperheart which I am kind of torn between going because it will be Trois Pistoles first show since a long time ago, After Any Accident and a band called Trust will be playing there, so that should be really cool too. Wow I think I have said enough for one sitting, things are going good and check out the message board as well as every freakin band on the main page. (it's tooo early for me right not, forgive me for I know not what I say). don't do drugs, or you will turn out like Ozzy Osbourne (is that a bad thing, or a good thing, I don't know) |
August, 26,2002 Oh Mondays, don't they just suck, especially when people sitting next you whine like a little baby girl. Just kidding dude (I have to say that so he will go to the show). Anyways........ Friday night was totally cool, ....and guppies eat their young and Rum Tenor member got together on friday for an Alt Country extravaganza which was totally cool, I know it was recorded and will have to get with Jason to see if I can get a copy. I also heard the Johnny Cash version of Rusty Cage not too long ago and thought that was the coolest thing since boiled bagels. After the modified, we all went to the Emerald Lounge and just missed Lonna (sorry Lonna) but we got to see Braeburn and The World Class Thugs. Very awesome show indeed. We also saw a band called Velveteen Dream which reminded me alot of The Cure. Totally cool. I missed Transgojobot again and HotfoughtCold but I will see them, OH YES I WILL SEE THEM! Singapore we are getting hits from Singapore! |
August, 20,2002 I think I am getting sick now, I was feeling a little out of it yesterday but now my throat hurts and I am all achey. YIKES!!! So stay away from me unless you want to get sick. I saw Fred and Adrienne again today, totally freaking me out. Fortunately I wasn't lip syncing to anything too terrible. I only have the radio in my car so I don't have much of a choice as to what I can listen too. This weekend is HotFoughtCold Transgojobot with some other fine bands at the modified. For those who read this check it out and live to tell the tale of the night of the show. Muahahahahaha |
August, 19,2002 I added Transgojobot to the website, I was unable to go to any shows because of work functions. It seems like the messageboard has slowed down a bit. Which I know the novelty has worn off a bit. I was actually very impressed with the amount of posts it has gotten, I am sure it will pick up again. It is monday already? Wow, how the weekend fly's. |
August, 15,2002 I am starting to learn alot of new things about myself lately and am actually becoming very impressed with the results, and I am not talking dirty either. The website is going to be making some changes in the next few weeks, which means, in a couple of weeks I will be saying there will be some changes made in the next few weeks. Lulu in Hollywood is playing tonight at the lucky dragon, there new sax player Syl is totally cool as well as the rest of the band. Be there and buy a saki bomber. HotFoughtCold is playing tomorrow night at Nita's I think that will probably be a screamer for sure, so you don't want to miss that, nor do you want to miss the Minibosses kick some Donkey Butt over at Nita's on saturday. Again people, and I can't stress this enough, throw your trash in the garbage can. Fortunately I haven't seen Fred or Adrienne stalking me in the early hours of the day before going to work. |
August, 12,2002 I have been out of the loop for a little while and feel bad about the whole thing, Lena from Lulu In Hollywood is moving out of the Hood, which saddens me. I hear the Richard Minardi is now moving into the hood, so we should all see him at the muse sometime I am sure. The Minibosses played in Vegas over the weekend and heard they put on a full metal assault amongst gamers in Sin City. I worked on the message board lastnight and have setup certain attributes for band members on the shizz to checkout. You are probably going to see a few changes with the website here in the next couple of weeks hopefully for the better. I guess only time will tell. For those who read this, Don't do drugs, at least not while you are at work or operating heavy machinery. You can really get into alot of trouble or even hurt. James Bond Rules and I have no idea what I am going to be for Halloween but I heard the The F Computers will be back again this year and I will be there for it for sure. |
August, 07,2002 Tomorrow night is going to be nothing but madness and mayhem as Fatigo, After Any Accident, The Vinegar Sting, and Scramjet take on the stage at Nita's Hideaway. This should be a good one for sure. I would try to make this one for sure. |
August, 05,2002 It was a crazy weekend of mayhem and minibosses at this years Uber Hacker convention known only as DEFCON. I got to vegas a day early to check things out. I won 100$ bucks at the bar and me and my friend brian went out drinking and we also got oxygenated at the oxygen bar at the House of blues in Mandalay Bay. I didn't really get anything out of it so I didnt' think it was worth it but I was using money that I had won so I didn't care. The next day we hooked up with the minibosses and when we got to Defcon X we saw Aaron Burke in a most beautiful dress but, alas with no guitar. It was pretty freaky and there wasn't an open music store around so Fred and Aaron switched off guitar duties. After that we hung and watched some jerk throw Matt in the pool. I hope someone hacks his webserver and overflows his buffers, anyways................ I won another 100$ the next night with the help of Matt and had a great time. It was way better than last year, and I can't wait to do it again next year. |
August, 01,2002 Tonight a band called "Wasting July" will be playing at the Hollywood Alley. Show starts around 9:30. Check it out and support the Alley and my Drinking Habit As has been foretold by those before me, the minibosses will be playing at the notorious annual geekfest known only as DEFCON. I saw them there last year and it was very cool to say the least, although I was a little annoyed by the wannabe hackers, but oh well everyone has dreams I guess of being the next Kevin Mitnick or whatever. Anyways, this year should be totally awesome and I know that the miniboxxes will not dissapoint. Wish you all could be there. |
July,29,2002 Friday was a cool night, I got to see a cool punk band called The Solutions open up for the Necronauts over at The Lucky Dragon, Employee of the Moth was supposed to play but there drummer got sick and had to cancel. The HotFoughtCold guys were supposed to play there but I don't know if they did because I left after the necronuats to head over to the infamous Long Wongs and watch HotFoughtCold headline over there. It was totally cool night of music, mayhem and chicken wings. Saturday night was the grand premiere of Brian Elser and Phil Donahues highly anticipated movie "Yo como mis primos" which had Rum Tenor playing the score to the movie. Although there was some technical difficulties at first everything went smoothly and rum tenor finished there set with Lonna which was the first time I ever heard her with a band. It sounded great. Next up was the Budget Sinatra who would be nowhere without the crazed singer known only as Trixie Delicious. Fatigo went up and played there hearts out like they always do with a clothing line sponsorship and a good portion of the crowd dancing these guys will definitely go far. Tonight is HotFoughtCold and the Minibosses with Country teaser over at Nita's Hideaway. Be there..................... or bad things will happen. |
July,24,2002 Not much going on tonight, but tomorrow Lulu in Hollywood is going to be playing over at the Lucky Dragon with the Hammertoes. Also something is going to be a stir over at the Boys and Girsl club starting at 7pm. Friday will also be a night of multiple delights because the minibosses will be at the boys and girls club, and Employee of the Moth, as well as Hot Fought Cold are to be playing at the Lucky Dragon, but the calendar also says Hot Fought Cold is playing at Long Wongs, so I don't know what the deal is. That definitely needs to be clarified especially since I heard from two different how they're going to the opposite ones. I just don't know anymore. No real crazy stuff to talk about, I have to find black clothes to wear to go see the minibosses in Vegas next weekend. I saw them last year in Las Vegas and it was totally spectacular. This time should be just as fun if not funner (yes, "Funner" is a word). I also want to wish good luck to Derrick and Amy from briefcase. Have a safe and happy trip to portland. Briefcase has moved from this town and we shall never be the same. Those guys were awesome. |
July,22,2002 I am driving to work this morning, and I am listening to the radio, because, the tape player doesn't work. I am not going to name the most embarrassing song that was playing but, I had the radio up kinda loud. I was singing along with the song like a dork and whaddaya know, I hear people screaming to the left of me. I look and lo and behold it's Fred and Adrienne, they are all laughing and giggly like new couples are, and I am freaked out to high heaven that they caught me singing along with the unmentionable band. Of course we exchanged rock n' roll hand signs and they drove off all happy and giddy at this early hour. 7a.m. and already the week is freaking me out. Alot of stuff going on this week. One thing I am very excited about is the movie by Brian Elser on saturday. Definitely get to the alley early so as not to miss this great event!! I have alot more to say but I am still too freaked out by Fred and Adrienne to go on :) |
July,18,2002 There is not a whole lot going on this weekend, but there is supposed to be a cool show at the modified on Sunday, I will try to get more info from Lena the Diva from Lulu in Hollywood about that one. I am just so happy about my new marshall that I can't even breathe. NYAAAAAAAH!!!! I am still trying to update the site, thanks for the emails I have gotten on certain little issues concerning the shizz :) |
July,16,2002 I must really be bored if I am posting everyday, no shows to talk about, but I am still updating the website, alot of things happened that I was not expecting when moving the website over to the new server. Things should be back up to par now. I am also going to switch back to the old message board. It was easier to maintain and keep set up. I got my marshall combo amp back finally and am so stoked about it. It sounds so good and I will never leave it again. |
July,15,2002 The first week of my new birth year has pretty muched sucked up to this point, there were a few high points. I did see Braeburn, The world class thugs and a girl named Beverley, it was a very good night for music, The world class thugs were amazing, Jocelyn has such a cool voice. Braeburn was great, Ben got a new amp and his tone sounded utterly wonderful. Last night was Blue Bird, YKN, Minibosses and Hotfoughtcold, I unfortunately didn't see the whole show, because of the freakin monsoon season, Marty doesn't know how to drive in rain, so we were hydroplaning down the freeway and almost hit the siderails it was crazy but kinda cool to. The power was out most of the way towards the modified, and it was kinda weird only seeing black with an occasional car light when looking into the darkened city. Fortunately there was power on 3rd street and Roosevelt. Fred rocked and looked great with the minibosses, he definitely fits the bill as their new guitarist. The only other band I got to see was Blue bird, I felt so bad for those guys, they were really good, but they showed up later than expected and some people left thinking they weren't gonna be there, and then they had some technical difficulties. These guys were really cool about the whole thing though and put on a great show. Then I got to go home and reset all my clocks so I could make it to work on time. Nyaaaaaaaah! |
July,13,2002 WOW, okay, we have a new message board, Lucas figured out what the issue was with the other message board, but we checked out this new one and and it is pretty cool. Let me know what you think of the new one and which one we should keep. I still have more stuff to go, but that was the major one. Tonight Braeburn is playing at Undicci as well as the world class thugs that should be a pretty good evening, tomorrow night is also the mini-bosses and a band from L.A. called the bluebird, I saw them a few years back over at stinkweeds and I thought they were awesome. I should have this stuff taken care of soon. Muahahahahaha! |
July,12,2002 Hey people, you might have noticed some issues the last couple of days with the site, I moved over to a new server. I want to thank Josh so much for letting me maintain the shizz on his server he is the greatest. I also want to thank Lucas for setting up the shizz on his server. There are a few glitches that I did not foresee so I will be fixing them over the weekend and trying to get it all set back up to normal. Right now you probably won't be able to login to the message board, that is first on my list, I will get to the other stuff as it becomes more apparant :) I was going to use the journal for evil and to complain but realized it just isn't worth it. I do that enough on my own I don't need to do it on the web. Let me know if you notice any issues and I will get to them as soon as I can. THANKS! |
July,11,2002 If you can see this than, the server has switched over properly |
July,09,2002 I figured out what Matt's shoulders are for, all this time I thought they were for holding up the big huge Van Halen Ball like on their 5150 album cover. If you don't know what I am talking about it is because I am so freaking old that most people probably don't what vinyl is, let alone 8-tracks. Ahhhhhhh 8-tracks, they were the greatest, with the clicking noise in the middle of songs. Those were the days. I didn't realize all the things that had happened Sunday night at the alley, I was told by some people about stuff that had happened and I didn't remember it at all. So I apologize for humping on anyone that was in my raging path, as well as some of my beligerance(I am too lazy to find out whether I spelled that correctly or not) Ross was awesome keying peoples beers in the name of all that is good at the alley. Yesterday I was in major pain, but have since recovered and am ready to rage into the night again. I also saw the lord of the rings at the dollar theatre. It started at 7:30 I didn't get out till close to 11! That movie is so freakin awesome, I can't wait for the next one to come out. Whatever you do, don't ever piss Dana off. She will kill you! wooooooo |
July,08,2002 Another Fun Filled weekend, I totally missed out friday, Braeburn played at the Hollywood Alley I really wanted to check it out, but I have the company pager and I got paged. Totally sucked. Saturday was cool, ...and guppies eat their young played at the modified. It was totally packed and was getting pretty warm in there. The gups opened up for the Radar brothers, really cool band, mellow soothing stuff. Sunday night was awesome, I got really liquored up, Fatigo played, I am sorry Michael for harrassing you through the monitors. Thank you brother for making it a great birthday. Briefcase played, which was so awesome, because I think that was there last performance in this state. Lonna was great. I saw S.M.I.T.H. and he was a total trip. I want to thank everyone who came out sunday I had a great time and it will be a night I won't forget. I put up two new links to the shizz Braeburn and World Class Thugs two really cool bands, definitely check them out. |
July,05,2002 Saw a great show last night, how can you go wrong with the Minibosses, Employee of the Moth, and After Any Accident? YOU CAN'T! I didn't even need my cane for this show Wooooooo. A good time was had by all, I had a good buzz going but I do remember someone talking smack all night, let's call this man for the sake of conversation, "Fred". Now "Fred" was talking smack and didn't think that I would remember. Oh but I did, even as tired as I am right now, I remember. I will remember untill the day I die. I don't really remember but that sounded so good I had to leave it in there. Tonight is Braeburn, with Switchbox and SugarCrush I have only seen Braeburn and they are lovely indeed should be a good evening at the Hollywood Alley again tonight. Did I mention that sunday Fatigo, Briefcase, and Lonna is playing with others Sunday. Brian Elser will be showing a trailer for his new movie and "Fred" might be playing a few tunes as well. Definitely check it out! |
July,03,2002 I am back and hopefully here to stay, I must say, it's a wonderful day. All the pain has gone away, I haven't felt like this since May. I hope and pray for you all today. And even though what I say is gay, I myself am not that way. Tons of stuff going on this weekend, the MINIBOSSES are playing tomorrow night at the alley, EVERYONE has to be there!! WHY do you ASK!?!?! Because Fred Johnson will be debuting his totally rifftastic self on stage and will be actually singing a few songs from a particular Playstation game that we all know and love. Just kidding he won't be singing but he will be on guitar and it should be awesome or at least that's what they told me to say. Anyways............ Lot's of stuff this weekend as well Braeburn on Friday, and a little tiny gathering on sunday at the Hollywood Alley on Sunday where Brian Elser will be showing off the trailer to his movie, which I am very INTRIGUED about. The movie will be shown at the alley on the 27th, along with the Budget Sinatra, The Sweetbleeders and Fatigo. I don't know what else is going on, but definitely check the calendar to find out!! I have been gone for so long I don't know what to do with myself so I will shutup and rethink what I just wrote. I probably should just leave it as is. I can't wait to start playing again. WOOOOOOOOOO Also a big big thanks for all of the people that have been there for me while I was out, you should all know who you are and if you don't, then I feel sorry for you. |
June,26,2002 I am going back under the knife again today at 1:30, so I am going to be drugged up and out of it for awhile again. AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Oh the price I pay for plastic surgery! |
June,24,2002 Last night was a little get together and was very nice seeing people I hadn't seen in over two weeks. It was totally cool, I had alot of fun. Matt Wood turned me on to a industrial goth band from L.A. called Deadsy, they were totally awesome and they do a cover of Tom Sawyer by Rush, it was amazing. I have never heard a band attempt to cover a rush song, especially a goth band but it was awesome even if you are not into rush. This friday is a fatigo show with there new bass player Gil, that guy is pretty cool and if he can handle Mike Montoya, then he is either really patient or on alot of pain killers. I almost feel weird writing on here again, I have to get back into the groove again because I haven't for awhile. I am still catching up with my email and will getting back to some of you soon. I almost forgot, HotFoughtCold is playing tonight at the modified, I guess I don't need to tell you people that, you guys check the calendar, right? |
June,22,2002 Okay so I haven't posted on a regular basis lately but it seems like eveyone else has to make up for my absence, poor mikey is sick and has lost his voice if anyone finds it please give it back. Another thing, Mike don't give out that disco thermos, I am claiming that in the name of spain (Sorry Lonna). I probably sound wacky right now so please forgive me. I am doing alot better and will plan on upgrading the site and making new changes soon. So if anyone has any ideas please tell me. |
June,17,2002 Okay, I can finally freakin walk without a cane, for those who don't know I will break the news later but I am gonna have to go into surgery again. Totally sucks, I got alot of DVD's to watch and have been a hermit trying to recooperate, I haven't checked my email and will start the task of writing all the people back that wrote me these past weeks. I did venture out and see some shows even though I wasn't supposed to, Employee of the Moth were so awesome last tuesday, it was a weird show at the alley that night the first band sucked and I didn't stick around to see the last band, but it was totally worth it to see EOTM, they are so freakin good. Friday night was a great show at the Lucky Dragon, Totally cool, I think AAA was the highlight of the evening for me, but everyone else totally rocked too. Saturday we saw members of Fred Green in a band called GoZ, they were heavy and they had a wall of vocals which was totally awesome, I am not usually into that kind of stuff but they were really really good because of all the vocal harmonies that were going on. Really cool. I am gonna try and be on and post more, but still don't know for sure yet. HENDRIX LIVES!!!!!!! |
June,08,2002 I am totally drugged up right now, but I want people to know I won't really be responding to email or anything for awhile. I will be watching the messageboard, but won't be posting or doing anything for at least a couple of more days. Boy do I feel like crap!!! If anybody thinks I am ignoring them, don't worry I am ignoring everyone :) |
June,06,2002 Yowza, I am gonna be out of commission for awhile and I am gonna try and post on here as much as possible, but for the next week or so I don't know how possible that will be. There are gonna be some cool shows coming up, Esposito and Transgojobot are playing tonight at the modified, definitely something to check out if you are in central phoenix, if you are more east valley there is a town hall meeting for the saving of Nita's Hideaway, look at what I posted on June 3rd for more information. I am not sure what is going on this weekend but Tuesday should be a cool show with Employee of the Moth, They will be playing with a band from Denver called Rocket Ajax. If I am able to, I am going to try as hard as I can to make it out there, otherwise I will be bed ridden watching meet the feebles on DVD, which by the way if you haven't seen is one of the strangest movies ever, but not as disgusting as Pink Flamingos. I wanted to blab about a whole bunch of stuff but I don't really have anything to blab about. I guess I will just go now and think about the knife I will go under and the drugs that be given to me :) |
June,04,2002 This past weekend was cool, friday at the alley was a fun time had by all, again I want to thank Georgia for the wonderful article(boy am I brown noser), it was a good turnout and Ross was happy with the whole event and that is always a good thing, I hope Lonna is alive from the show, she really knows how to get liquored up, unfortunately she doesn't know how to handle it very well in large doses. Saturday Fatigo, The Sweetbleeders and a band called Pronna from Tucson played for a Poetry Slam at Nita's Hideaway. I didn't see Eirean Bradley there which was unusual, because that guy is one of the best poets I know in the valley but whatever. I saw last months stats, and we recieved over 20,000 hits. That is totally insane! Don't you people have any lives!!!! Neither do I |
June,03,2002 I can't believe I am doing this, getting on a soapbox and all. Actually, this was forwarded to me and I thought I would post this for the good of the people. So here it is. I will post stuff about this weekend probably later tomorrow. I don't know if anyone is aware of this but the land surrounding Nita's Hideaway is planned for commercial redevelopment and they have been looking for a new location in Tempe. They have found one and are in the process of moving into the the old steakhouse building on Southern & Price formerly known as Club Millennium and The Windmill Lounge. The City of Tempe has been receiving complaints and opposition from many residents in the area. Their perception of Nita's is that it is a loud raucous biker bar that will bring congestion, noise, and a seedy element to their quiet south Tempe neighborhood. There was a city council meeting this past Thursday where residents had an opportunity to voice their complaints. There will be another meeting this Thursday and the council will make a decision that may prevent Nita's from moving. If you've ever gone to see an artist you enjoy at Nita's and would like to see them continue to bring phoenix quality shows, please think about coming to downtown Tempe this Thursday to show the council that there are a lot of people that would like to see Nita's stay open and move into this location. For more information on what's going on and how you can support Nita's: http://www.nitashideaway.com/help.htm City Council Meeting June 6th at 6:45pm City of Tempe Building (the upside-down pyramid downtown) If you plan on attending please show up extra early so you can get in and be seen! Please forward to anyone you think may be interested. |

May,30,2002 First off, I want to thank Georgia Geiss on her article about The Shizz, the people involved and all the awesome bands that are on the site, if you have read it you can view the Arizona Republic Article here, or look in todays paper in the Tempe Guadalupe section. This thing started a few months ago as just a webpage that had links to some cool bands. Like I said in one of the first journal entries I am not the greatest webdesigner and I know that it's not the prettiest, but it's simple and it works. Now we have more bands, a calendar and a message board. Now that we have that taken cared of we are now looking at ways to transport people from their computer to shows, but that is going to take a little while. With that being said, right now as it stands instead of bringing people to the shows, we can bring the shows to the people. Last night at the Modified The Minibosses headlined a great show with Protein of the Sea, You Knighted Nations and Hot Fought Cold. The show was broadcast on knotradio.org and I don't know much more that, since I was there all I had to do was listen but it was an awesome show. Totally cool! |
May,30,2002 Tonight is You Knighted Nations, and the Minibosses I apologize because I don't remember who the other bands. All of this at none other than the Modified arts. Be there or suffer unmentionable unthinkable unspeakable undeniable unreliable and unaffordable pain! If you can survive and most people that have gone through this haven't, then there is no reason why you wouldn't shouldn't and couldn't go to the show. Why in the hell am I talking like this!! I am bored and don't know what else to say except that besides the show tonight there is a show tomorrow at the Hollywood Alley with Lonna, Sweetbleaders, The Winners, and Fatigo. Then Saturday is Fatigo, and the Sweetbleaders at Nita's, and Sunday is Mates of state at Nita's Hideaway! Woohooooooo |
May,29,2002 I am actually writing this on the evening of the 28th, because it's only a couple of hours untill tomorrow, and since I wrote earlier this morning I thought I might as well consider it another day instead of editing what I already have blah blah blah..... So anyways, Lonna, Fatigo, The Winners, and The Sweetbleeders are all playing friday night at the Hollywood Alley, I am saying this not just because I would love to see you all out there but because all of those bands are on the shizz (except for the sweetbleeders because they don't have a website that I am aware otherwise......), everyone got interviewed including myself, and I got to talk about the website and all. It was pretty cool, first time I had ever done that before, but anyways, I don't think it is going to be that big of an article but nonetheless it will be in the Arizona Republic in the East Valley Section. Thank you Georgia, you are awesome! At least untill I read what you wrote in the article :) muahahahahaha I really do think the scene is the best I have seen in the last 6 years that I have lived here, and thanks to not only the cool music but the cool people playing the music, am I getting sappy? Freakin A! I starting to get Sappy!! Will someone please yell at me when I start doing that!! I have changed the front page some, the graphic is different and I have started to try to organize the page a little better. I am not trying to be to fancy shmancy or nothing I just want people to see that arizona has some awesome bands, and that they are out there playing music and stuff, and junk and stuff. Okay it's Late, I am tired and I need some sleep! Laters, and don't ever call an astronomer an astrologer, they don't like that! |
May,28,2002 Congratulations to John and Christine again, for those who were at the bachelor party, I don't need to reiterate what happened, but we all had a good time. Saturday was cool, the newly named "The Budget Sinatra" formerly The Vanity Set, played at the modified with "The Billy No Mates", "Thee Apologies", and "Die Cheerleader Die" I would tell you more about the show but I was pretty liquored up and I mostly paid attention to Leslie. Sunday was the wedding which was beautiful, it was a little weird, during the ceremony you could tell the family from the friends because, for one, nobody in the family wore a purple suit with red pinstripe and a red leather tie. Second, all the family sat in the first three rows, and all the friends sat in the last couple of rows leaving 3 or 4 rows in the middle that nobody sat in, kind of a no mans land, if you will. Really cool, Fatigo played "Stuck on you" by Failure and played their set, afterwards After any Accident played, it was so awesome to see John and Christine all dressed up, I hope someone has pictures of that because it was cool, and Scott actually played without taking his shirt off. I have some more exciting news but I will wait before letting that news out :) |

May,23,2002 So far so good, I am holding out pretty good this week, I am very happy for John and Christine who are getting married this Sunday, we hired a few prostitutes who said they would do anything for a couple of crack rocks, to take John out and make him cry like a little baby girl. Who knows, prostitutes on crack are usually pretty flakey so we are probably just gonna have a decent little bar-be-que and sit around drinking beer and talk about the latest developments in nanotechnology. Today is also S.H.I.T (So Happy It's Thursday). It's now past the middle of the week and it's smooth sailing from here. I don't think there is anything going on tonight, but if there was I would probably go. I feel pretty good today and wouldn't mind getting totally obliterated before tomorrow. Highly doubtful, but it's still good to dream! |

May,21,2002 It's tuesday one of the greatest days of the week, something I like to call S.H.I.T (So Happy It's Tuesday) I am not hungover (anymore) from the weekend, and I can just sit back and work, and not have to worry about the weekend yet, getting ready for shows, or making sure that I have enough clean underwear because right now, it's tuesday :) The Vanity Set has changed their name! It came as a big shock to all of us, but members of Nick Cave and the bad seeds had it first so rather than go through a big court battle they decided to just let em have it. Now from this day forward they shall be know as "The Budget Sinatra". There site will show the changes as soon as their web guy gets his butt in gear. |

May,18,2002 It's been awhile since I last wrote, as I usually say, alot has happened. The webserver has changed locations, it is still maintained by my friend Josh, who is so awesome for hosting this site for me. All of my email issues should be gone, (hopefully) the move was part of the problem, so this past week has been kind of crazy. Another thing that I have been working on is a message board which I just set up. I know not everyone reads this so I will put the link up here first before I put it on the main page, that way I can see if there are any glitches with it first before it is handed out to the masses. I saw Star Wars, and it was totally awesome, so much better than Episode I. I was in Tucson last night, checked out a cool venue I had never been too before. Club Congress, it was very cool, Fatigo (from Tempe) opened up the evening, followed by an awesome set by Tucsons very own Liberty School, and was ended by The Hammertoes(from the phoenix area) which packed the house. I also heard that the Hypnotwists were playing at Plush there as well but I didn't get to check them out. Last night was also good for Flagstaff, Troi Pistoles played but haven't heard back as to how the show went yet but I do know that the minibosses were there on there way to L.A. to open up for The F**king Champs at the smell on Sunday. That should be an amazing show. |

May,13,2002 I am still having minor issues with my mail, I can't recieve, and I can send to some people but not to others, I know what the problem is but it is too complicated for me to have to explain right now on account of my laziness. The Winners and there wonderfully Sassy Drummer Matt (birthday boy) Wood is now starting the journal for their sight, pretty cool, pretty insightful, maybe a little more info than I need, especially about the naked guy. Alot went on this weekend, I had to work and didn't get to do all that I wanted too, but I got to hear the Secret Chiefs 3, and has just blown me away, same thing with the John Zorn album Masada, middle eastern sounds, it is very very cool stuff. Happy belated Mothers Day! |

May,09,2002 You might have noticed the site was down on tuesday, we were having some technical difficulties, now the site is up but my email is having issues. I am recieving email, I just can't send for some reason, I believe it's a dns issue, but I need to look into this further. I will stop with the tech crap and move on to bigger and better things! I can't think of anything off the top of my head right now so I will just say that, those of you who have emailed me in the past 3 or 4 days, I have recieved your email I just need to get this DNS issue resolved. REVISION I just figured out what happened, it was kinda sorta DNS related but more on my part than anything, I had to change my fetchmailrc file to point to the correct mail server, I don't know why but I did. Also, check out the shizz calendar alot of stuff is happening this month, it's insane, almost too much, but not quite. I am getting very excited about the months to come even though it's gonna get freakin hot, that's okay I guess that's why there are air conditioners, and bottled water. Speaking of bottled water, don't ever drink the water at May West, it's gross. |

May,07,2002 Mike Montoya is getting his Freepilation together which is going to be an eclectic mix of local music which from what I have heard, is going to be really neat. What the hell does neat mean, absolutely nothing, I hate that word so I will now have to start all over again and rewrite this. I am too lazy to do that so I will say that the freepilation compilation is going to be absolutely amazing and very diverse and any other adjectives that people use to describe something they really like alot without saying the word "neat". I don't know if I am allowed to say who is going to be on it, but I will give any of you reading this a big freaking hint. They are mostly all bands on the shizz, a few strays who don't have websites otherwise they would be on the shizz. Fred, if you are reading this you need to give me some info so I can set something up for ya:) That is about it, I created an archive of the journal and there is a link to it near the bottom of the page, I don't think anyone will really go through the archive except me when I am 65 and have nothing else to do. By that time the internet as we know it will be so obsolete and archaic that it won't really matter. So what the hell. Carpe Diem is all I have to say. I just read AAA's website and totally agree with John Lipfert and his interview with Johnny Fartsalot from Accidentland News. Very Insighful. Well I am either gonna do alot of drugs or go to bed, since all my money is either budgeted out or non existent, I am gonna go to bed. Laters Y'all and have a good night or morning whatever you wanna call it. One more thing, (I am bored and don't want to go to bed) Checkout the calendar, there is alot going on this month, I wish I could go to all the shows that are happening, there are some nights where there are three events going at once. All I can say is choose wisely and don't piss anyone off that's holding a handfull of rotten eggs. |

May,06,2002 Incestival was awesome, I was kind of worried at first and I am glad we didn't put as much into it as we were talking about, although I still want to make some shirts with the graphic on it. But overall I think it was totally cool, I want to thank all the bands that participated, you guys were all awesome, and a big thanks to the people who came out to support the music as well. I had alot of fun and got to meet some new people, which is a sure sign I am drunk, because I am not very good at meeting and talking to people unless I am inebriated to some degree. I missed the John Vanderslice show at the modified on saturday, I heard it was an amazing show. I went to go see the new Spiderman movie, that movie was so freakin awesome I have been waiting to see that movie since I was a kid. I think it is the best comic book movie adaptation I have seen. Anyone who may read this and wants more to read, some of the bands on the shizz also have their own journals, Fatigo, The Vanity Set, and The Lovely Lonna so definitely check that shizz out. Do you have ever get that feeling that you need to do alot of drugs, so that you can have something to blame for all your troubles. I don't, I was just wondering if any of you do. |

May,03,2002 I was so impressed with the turnout for lastnights shindig, that I am almost scared for tonight. It was a great time. Guys, there were plenty of drunk ladies out there last night (for anyone who didn't make it). Ladies, John Delacruz was pretty drunk, (just kidding I don't think John was really all that drunk, but whatever). I want to thank all the bands, Braeburn was awesome (as usual) Ben's bass always looked small on him in the minibosses but when he plays the guitar it looks like a mandolin. The Winners did magnificent, Marty the new bass player has been a wonderful addition to the band. Briefcase was so awesome, Amy's voice is something I can never get tired of, but then again I only see her once in awhile so who know's. The Fatigo brothers came on strong and took the audience by storm, they were like adolescents who crashed the college party. A big thanks goes to Ross who has to put up with all of us and is the coolest dude in the world. TONIGHT will be even better! The Vanity Set led by former Death Metal activist Trixie Delicious will crush your with her bare hands or at least intimidate you with her ferocious banter. You Knighted Nations will moisten you with there over the edge (adjective) (noun). Trois Pistoles will lull you with there 6 string bass from hell and French Canadian Jack of all Trades Fred Johnson, say hi to his mom she will be there. (I heard she is hot too!). The kings of Rock, After Any Accident will be playing as well, Scott the drummer is the guy who set this incestival stuff up so thank him for doing this by getting him a beer or two. AAA will definitely rock the casbah as well as those digitally enhanced giants of nintendo madness the minibosses. (where do I come with this crap?). Anyways, show up and have lots of fun checking out some really cool bands. I hope to see you and all your freaky friends there, or at least your friends. Muahahaha. I just have to add one more thing, I didn't get to bed till 2am and had to be at work by 7am, so I am just a little (adjective) and maybe a little loopy. So please excuse me if I sound a little bizarre. |

May,02,2002 TONIGHT IS THE INCESTIVAL, if you want to know what the big hoopla is, there are a number of bands that are connected to each other through other band members, there are some freaks that are in up to 3 bands, we will question there sanity later, but for now we shall celebrate in song and libations galor at none other than the Hollywood Alley. Tonight will be alot of fun it will include Braeburn, The Winners, Briefcase, and those freaky guys from Fatigo. Please check that out not just because you will be helping support the music scene but because you will get to see John DelaCruz really drunk! Tomorrow night (friday) will be the same place same time, different bands, we have the everlasting Vanity Set, After Any Accident, You Knighted Nations(which will be freaking Awesome), and those lovable, huggable guys from The Minibosses Inc. You gotta check this out as well because not only to support the scene but because you will get to see John DelaCruz really drunk! I still have so much to do with the site it's terrible, but it's so cool to see that people are checking it out. We got over 8,000 hits in march and april got over 7,000 hits. I hope to improve the site, which is kinda difficult with everything else I am doing but if anyone that reads this has any suggestions let me know. I am currently setting up accounts for bands on the shizz to be able to add dates of their shows on the calendar. I have a few setup but will be setting up more as time goes on. Okey Dokey, I guess I am out of things to say, hopefully I will see all at the shows. |
