Tbh I'm glad that they haven't stayed the same "College Humor" that they used to be, with such underdeveloped ideas as:

Their stuff over the past 5 years, I'd say, has been some of my favourite YouTube comedy.

Watched Looper last night. The presence of Bruce Willis had me thinking of 12 Monkeys, but it was pretty good. This Rian Johnson fella is gonna go places.

My friend recommended me Eyes Wide Shut this season (It's technically a Christmas movie), one of the few Kubrick films I haven't seen.

Very good but it got me all fucked up. Super unsettling.

1917 was good. Not as gruesome/intense as I remember Saving Private Ryan to be, but I jumped more in this.

I finally saw Avengers Endgame, and I was impressed by what it did well:
having a stupidly busy plot that still managed to make sense.

being pretty good about giving lots of characters worthwhile moments.

Giving the post-climax parts of the story time to breathe.

Things it didn't do so well:
Too f* much CGI, so much of it felt carved from pixels.

A bit too much humor.

Not giving the tertiary characters any reason to be around--Rhody, Captain Marvel, everyone in Wakanda, Pepper Pots.

Swapping what should have been Cap and Iron Man's finales. (Don't ever expect me to believe a billionaire is going to sacrifice themself to save the world.)

Also watched the first Candyman movie after seeing it in theaters yeeeeaaaars ago.

Felt it was really well done, didn't force itself to have the 'monster' up front, made the themes clear and thoroughly integrated into the plot, very novel origin for the killer, and used the whole movie to tell its story.

I want to watch this but I'm so reluctant to because at best I think there's a 50/50 chance I'll like it or hate it.

I think I'm willing to give a pass to the character thing just because that's basically just like Avengers comics. Most of them are just about one or two characters (how much Cap and Iron Man hate each other, how much Iron Man and Carol hate each other, etc). Everyone else is just there because it's a team book and they are on the team. The benefit of comics I guess is that over many issues, every character can have their story (would you believe that in the current Iron Man run there's an ongoing subplot about Jocasta and Machine Man??)

I can definitely see your latter point. Or rather, I guess I can't really see either of them walking away. Comics cap got aged to a geriatric and still played hero, and comics Tony forever tries to make Iron Man work no matter what. Although it's nice that in the MCU characters can step away (maybe?) and let others take the mantle, where comics will forever hold on to the status quo.
