oh yeah, big singles in a dinger sound incredible. my buddy has had 3 different dingwalls in the time i've had mine, and he's put big singles in all of them and they sound so very nice.

i think the stock pickups are real good, but i prefer single coils for bass and i know the nordstrands are outstanding (i also used to have a set in another bass).

i'm real excited but its goin to take 2-3 weeks for them to get made.

Hey - saw this thread and thought I'd chime in, y'know, fellow bassist and all.

I play an Ibanez SR506 through a Line 6 Helix - I own a Markbass 1x12 combo that I gig with, but I'm thinking about splurging and getting something like a Barefaced setup, which apparently should work really well with the Line 6 gear.

Considering replacing the MK1 pickups that are stock with the Ibanez. (I replaced the preamp with the Aguilar OBP-3, which is much better, but I dunno - the MK1s are usable but I can't help but feel that there's more to be had somehow.)

There's honestly just too much gear to buy. I guess this is why artists have patrons...

would anyone be interested in a Dark Glass Tone Capsule preamp?  i don't use the one in my dingwall, and i prefer to have individual volume controls for my pickups, so i'm gonna pull it out and put in a passive tone circuit.

i'll sell it cheap if anyone is interested.

Any advice for getting the lowest few notes on a 5 string to come through when slapping? I get a lot of mush and clicking and not a nice round thump like anything above about the 4th fret. Maybe I need to raise my action? This is for recording, not live. So maybe I should just play the parts up a few frets and pitch shift?

Hey!  Why would you want a multiscale bass?  Are you doing bending on the higher strings?  Does it help with stretches?

the additional length on the lower strings makes a huge difference in regards to note clarity & even tension among all strings.

Yeah but wouldn't you just use a longer scale length to achieve the same effect?  I guess does the lowered tension on the G string matter? (HEYOOO)

I was in the multiscale market for a long time but kinda realized I could just alter my string tension via string size

maybe, but i think 37" would be too long for a normal gauge g (& probably d), so it would likely lead to string breakage or using thicker strings that would throw off the tension balance across the strings.
