The first time I listened to my copy of the new Tortoise record I accidentally dropped it. It hit the corner of my receiver and put a huge scratch on side B. Damn.

I can totally relate to the Stevens incident.

My roommate in college had a cat that developed an insatiable taste for Rocket From the Crypt LP corners.

Great read.

Fuuuuuuck.

sucks.

Once while record shopping i got so excited about finding several Devo albums on vinyl that i bought them all without checking. Got home, put one on and realized they were all super scratched up.

total bummers.

When I first moved to PHX in '06, I didn't have a job and ended up selling the vast majority of my records on eBay and also pawned them off at Eastside by the crateful. Looking back, of course I regret this. Mostly h/c, powerviolence stuff that I'm hard pressed to find anymore (and not for lack of searching). But those for that are vinyl enthusiasts, life is a constant search for things you've passed up as well as things you've lost.

That is the truth! Do you still check Eastside? i ahve noticed a bit of power violence and grind stuff trickeling in, nothing too crazy, but you may still find some there...

Yeah. Every time I get paid, I make it a point to go by and sift through the used section. A to Z. And you're right, a lot of good stuff is trickling through that place.
