ok:
i like this martin guys writing so far, (much better than some others i can think of) BUT he seems way off base in this instance. modified closing (as we know it) is a HUGE deal to me, but it doesnt mean anything even close to downtown being over.
ben collins and his major label subsidiary...well, im trying to be as nice as possible, but do they even matter to the large majority of goings-on in town? i know that they do a lot of stuff and people are into it, but it mostly* seems to revolve around their own 'scene' (or whatever nomenclature you want to apply) and bands who have aspirations of making it or whatever. im not bashing them, but they arent the driving force behind all phx music by any stretch.
phoenix is going to be alright. these things are bumps in the road.
*to an outsider
New Tmes music editor says "Downtown is ovah."
