It's an experiment, but starting the first Tuesday in January I'll be hosting a new open mic night with some help from the Shizz... main focus is on acoustic music, but no rules about that. It's at a small coffeeshop, with a small PA and a couple mics, so no support at this time for rowdy rock bands. I'll probably experiment with 'formats' for this, but first week I'll keep a sign-up list and limit at 3 songs/10 minutes till everyone gets a chance, then cycle back through the list if there's time.

7-9pm (flexible end time) starting January 5th and continuing every Tuesday till further notice.
Urban Beans - 3508 N 7th St, Phx.

There are bars nearby if you need to work up your courage - but the place is a coffee house. Not too far from a light rail stop too.

Let me know if you have any questions... otherwise, tune up those guitars and let's make a mess of this :-)

Well - just a quick report: this actually went quite well for a first try. Some 6 talented performers, good music for a solid couple hours... A good start.

Definitely try to make it out next week!

Also worth mentioning that while this is mostly singer/songwriter types... no reason you can't bring the poetry or other spoken word

Beth and I went lastnight, I had never been there before. Decent espresso and cool atmosphere, and the artists were great.
