That show was pretty incredible. Best show I had all weekend, sound was great. Protodudes killed it, as usual.

I saw that they debut a song from Act III. Watched the video, I liked it.

these hilary clinton-looking women must be pressing their buttholes right up against the sides of the stall and letting it rip.

They have become such good friends, slowly over time and through intense repeated exposure stretching back to 2011, that it's insane to look back on my "thoughts" from the past. They also (independent of me) totally know what the Shizz is and that they are "hated there" hahahaha

This has actually been a relatively well-balanced discussion thread.

Confession time: I have no opinion about the Protomen. They are a group of musicians that exist, and that's fine.

Whew lord

Okay for the last time.
Super talented. Good energy. Really nice guys and good folk from what I've heard.
But they bore me. I don't know what it is. Maybe it is the whole fanfic feel, I'm not sure.
I definitely didn't need to see them at MAG but I've been to the BitGen shows and pax east and that led to me seeing them 5 times in the past couple years or whatever.

"oh, cool, I like The Minibosses...but do you know The Protomen? I love them!"

This happens to me as well.

Fuck, they did "Total Eclipse of the Heart"? Guess I should give these guys a chance. I listened to their first album a while ago and it was ok, never listened to the second but I guess I should.

That's their shtick, they do 80's cover songs at the end of every show. I've seen Mr. Roboto, Danger Zone, Total Eclipse of the Heart, Shadows of the Night, etc. etc.

8 years ago, I was pretty spot on.

Though mastodon if you got rid of the crazy ass drums and the yelling vox, and no distortion it would seriously sound like a country band, a lot of brent licks are just super fast chicken picken country licks.

That's why I like them.

honestly the same reason i like pantera

I like Pantera because it's angry music for strippers to dance to.

I'm pretty much entirely with Spook on this. They're very good.  The brief interactions I had with the members of the band were pleasant.  If they vanished off the face of the earth tomorrow I'd probably only occasionally notice.  I just don't think about them much.

Also, we had a situation where they ended up getting way preferential treatment over us at a large show.  Not necessarily their fault, but anything we asked for (like, use of the green room) was immediately rescinded if it conflicted with what the Protomen wanted.  I don't really blame the event either; they're just a much bigger act and it kinda sucked to get stuck underneath them.

Their merch person also made a big stink about not being able to use our merch table in addition to their own, but that doesn't necessarily reflect on the band members.

I'm not even going to look at my old posts. Everything I posted pre 2012 was pure cringe, and I don't know how anyone put  up with me before then.
