now i'm no bucky o'hare, but it's been a long time since we've seen any Explod updates and i would like to follow his example and provide high-quality VGM rips straight from hardware to give you people the best rips out there. keep in mind that i'm limited my personal game collection, and will probably just stick to games that have sound tests, but i'm still open to requests if you can try to fit those criteria (- my collection -). here's what i have so far:
Sega Genesis:
Sega 32x:
TurboGrafx-16:
i feel that Genesis music in particular loses something when emulated. the subtleties of the tones and instruments seem to be lost in translation, possibly due to the inconsistencies between model revisions of the actual system, leading to inconsistent emulations. i use a model 1 Genesis with "High Definition Graphics" for my rips since that seems to be the model of choice among audiophiles.
as for the TG16, i have no idea if there were modifications made to the soundchip between revisions. in any case, i use a PC Engine Duo-R, but i would love to know if any differences exist between models
i'm currently ripping a 32x game sound test at the moment. it's great and sounds better than the crap i've found on youtube
