Congrats to Ivan Hakštok, winzip84, and M-H for being the speediest and shrediest for Brevity month!

Next month's theme is Yoko Shimomura! Any tracks composed by this wonderful Japanese composer is viable. Check out this list of works as a starting point. Please pay close attention to any games listed that specify if she only composed certain songs. If there is no specification like this, then any song from the title is free game. This month's banner was created by fedde!

Speaking of banner art, we just recently launched a Patreon for this site with the main focus being raising money for monthly banner art (including this month)! Please consider contributing and helping support this VGM community! Subscribers get a sneak peek at upcoming banner art and a special role in our Discord server.

Thanks to Impact Soundworks, the winner of this month will be getting a prize - one of the following ISW libraries: Shreddage Drums, Shreddage Bass 2, Shreddage, Shreddage 2 or Super Audio Cart!

Also: Did you know that we now have a Discord server? As well as a whole new Music Player? Keep up with the times!

Send entries to dodsongs@gmail.com by February 26th at 5PM Eastern!

Holy shit, after all the 5th, 4th, 3rd and 2nd places I finally won one of these! This is probably the most cover-ish song I ever did for DoD, so praise be to Tsuyoshi Sekito and the amazing OST to The Last Remnant! Everyone should check it out if you haven't already.

Big thanks to everyone who voted, and a huge congrats to everyone who entered, there were several entries I really liked this month, especially the Exciting Basket one.

I have an amazing idea for Yoko Shimomura month (I got a sneak peak at the banner on Patreon so I actually started writing my entry this morning, sorry). Hopefully I can finish it in time!

BANDCAMP - Featuring my newest release, Maiden Voyage a tribute to the Star Ocean games
Operation British - My Gundam chiptune album @ Anime Remix

"You know BornInCrimson, guys, right? The guy who hosts, like, Dwelling of Duels? I was in there with him, and Master Hatchet, that guy kicks ass. He has like these metal arrangements. But anyways. I'm trying to say...uh...I was there with these guys, and uh..."

Just a heads up, for games with multiple composers, you can use VGMdb to check which particular tracks were composed by Yoko Shimomura.

Entered my submission. Long time coming. I think you'll see more of me around now that life allows for it.

7th place? Not bad, not bad.

I used exclusively freeware amp sims for the guitars on this one - Vadim Taranov's 5150 and the good ol HyBrit. The rhythm guitars are triple tracked (panned hard left, hard right and middle). The drums here are a hybrid between standard one shots and a resampled recording of a real hihat. I didn't feel like using a drumpler this time. The bass is a DI although I put on an octaver to thicken it up and make its midrange richer. There are also some programmed keys (hammond, epiano and minimoog vsti) to glue the mix together. Speaking of glue, I mixed the song top down style through a master buss compressor. The ending is kinda weird but that's cuz I literally cut off the ending of the track and added a "power down" effect to fit the 1 minute time limit.
