#1342441 DoD 80s vs 90s Results, Brevity Month Next

Posted by Pumpkin King on 08 January 2017 - 08:52 AM

Some pretty cool songs this month. An obvious one to win it with PuD's song... really long though!

But IMO zykO's should have placed higher! Loved that one, it was really catchy. My favorite one out of the bunch.

Anywho, here's my piano cover on youtube... Also, I'm thinking I'll get a little more involved this year.

This is the latest track on youtube, with artwork. I finished the track yesterday (the others are on youtube as well).

#1332992 Who Likes To Take Shits?

Posted by Pumpkin King on 19 October 2016 - 01:03 PM

I know that many people like to take their precious time when taking shits. But when I take shits, I take them fast.

Like, really fast. Am I the only one?

#1326306 So I released a piano album yesterday

Posted by Pumpkin King on 25 August 2016 - 05:00 PM

Glad you included Jem. Pretty big influence with my proggier style of writing (didn't like the last album though, but hey...)

I'm in the same boat, I actually was very disappointed with almost every song. I liked Numbers, but only the part of me that liked Toys, which...isn't really a Frost* song. Numbers is definitely MORE like Frost* than Toys, though.

Yep... I was really disappointed. It's not that it was different. The writing seemed off. Even the production wasn't very good, which is surprising. It's like, everything sounded mushy and cluttered.

That's from what I remember anyway... I haven't listened to it in quite awhile.

Oh well, it doesn't take away from Milliontown being one of my all time favorite albums.

Hey guys! I know I haven't contributed to DOD in quite awhile, but thought I'd share this album I released yesterday on bandcamp... for piano lovers out there.

Couldn't figure out how the embed code works, so here ya go.

#1273054 DoD Dance Party Results, February Theme

Posted by Pumpkin King on 26 January 2015 - 05:13 PM

Pumpking King got ROBBED!

Man I've heard that for the past 2-3 entries!

I kinda wish people danced to my song in the beginning of the listening party and stopped talking over it. Oh well. I would've danced to it myself but I figured it wasn't right.

Anyways, no keytar video this time. I just uploaded the track to youtube. Maybe I'll post a live clip on my facebook channel sometime.

#1250038 DoD Free Month Results, May Discussion

Posted by Pumpkin King on 04 May 2014 - 11:52 AM

So here's my updated track on youtube. Made a performance video with all main instruments. Hope you guys like it!

EDIT: Just noticed a really bad sync problem in the end. Geez... I don't even know how that happened and how I didn't notice. Ahh. Oh well, I really don't want to fix it and re-bounce the video... And actually as I look at it, it just speeds up for no reason. Hmm... Damn phone.

#1249809 DoD Free Month Results, May Discussion

Posted by Pumpkin King on 01 May 2014 - 11:02 AM

About Kong Symphony (also on the DoD forum...)

- I started with Cascade Capers (DKC 3).
- There is an Aquatic Ambience nugget with the strings when they come in (around 1:40ish).
- At around 2:00 is Stickerbrush Symphony (DKC 2).
- At around 4:00 is a melody from Voices of the Temple (DKC 1).
- At 4:56 is a melody from DK Island Swing (DKC 1)
- At 5:49 is Bayou Boogie (DKC 2).
- At 6:49 and on is a rough translation of Hot-Head Bop (DKC 2).

I had so many more omitted ideas... maybe I'll do another part in the future. And I'm currently fixing up the drums with sine waves and compression, along with rewriting some drum and bass parts. I'll keep people updated and probably post it on youtube. Maybe I'll do some keytar performances, either post it on facebook or youtube.

#1242749 Got my keytar!

Posted by Pumpkin King on 06 February 2014 - 02:54 PM

In the front there is a touchpad that I use to control the pitch bend. And there's a lever right next to it that I can squeeze that controls the modulation. There are also buttons that allow me to assign certain parameters with the d-beam (it senses hand movements). In the back there are buttons that can control the sustain and other assignable parameters. I usually use them to slow down time so I can play faster.

#1241303 Got my keytar!

Posted by Pumpkin King on 18 January 2014 - 08:41 PM

If you use the guitar samples/synths on that keytar I will anon comp you. Because you will deserve it if you EVER feel the desire to use something so awful.
The rest is fair game. AX-Synth rules!

But seriously, awesome stuff. Keytars are teh sex.

Especially that Sonic 2 drums one.

Thanks! I'm having a lot of fun using Genesis drum samples.

And to get back on Demonstray's comment... I actually have been using a lot of the tones from the Ax Synth recently. It's pretty decent sounding when playing with other people, believe it or not. I've been using it for jamming with friends or playing at bars with other musicians, even busking a few times. It's surprisingly versatile.

#1234432 DoD 10th Anniversary Month Results, November Discussion

Posted by Pumpkin King on 02 November 2013 - 11:01 AM

Congrats to everyone! Pretty awesome month. Harmsing's track was my favorite. And much thanks to the reviewers.

About my song, I was really happy that streifig accepted my Chemical Plant track. It was super last minute. I never worked with an electronic song like that within Logic before (at least with the drum style). And I didn't find the frequency range to be too much of a problem initially. But it's funny, Snappleman was halfway right with his lovely comments when he said I was mixing through headphones or whatever. I didn't have time to listen through speakers. It was mainly through my headphones, and then my laptop speakers... sad.  <_<

And no... NEVER mention dubstep with my music. Yuck.

I'll probably add a video cover to youtube. I did some edits to the bass and synth rhythm eq, and humanized the patterns, leads are louder, etc. My original intention awhile back was to play each track live. But I got too lazy and decided to procrastinate. I might add a touch of reverb to the track as well. I omitted the reverb sends at the last second.
