anyway i went to this record store called tracks in wax yesterday for the first time,
ive been meaning to check it out for years i guess now, since its right by my house and i pass it almost every day. so i went there, and i think its my new favourite record store! it actually felt like a record store, rather then a place to go and buy whatever's popular, and show off you're new blue jeans. i went through the folk section, and found a friggin steeleye span record, a pentangle record, tons of pete seeger stuff, and some amazing bluegrass, including a record devoted just to the banjo, which i think is going to help me get the inspiration to learn it that ive been wanting for months. it was like i was going through the collection of seymour from the movie "ghostworld", it was awesome.
so thats all i have to say i guess, oh, and if anyone hasnt been here, and thinks that stinkweeds is the best thing ever, you should go check it out.
later.

Citysearch Editorial Review
By Dave Flomberg
It set the bar for Denver's indie record shops.
The Scene
Imagine a cramped, urban storefront. Dim overhead lighting and the musty smell of old cardboard and vinyl. Wooden shelves bursting with albums from every possible nook, cranny and curious little subcategory of music imaginable. Behind the counter is a young, punkish clerk with wild clothes, hair, piercings and tattoos. It's like a scene out of "Singles," but it's real: Wax Trax is that store. Jack Black's character in "High Fidelity" was modeled after the kind of people who work here, in the best possible way. They have every album, know and listen to every band, and represent the best of urban culture in Capitol Hill.
The Goods
With three storefronts, it sells music in every medium (except maybe 8-track) and every genre. It's an especially great place to pick up the old, hard-to-find jazz albums you must have for that special date.

-trunkspaceAll the time when I tell people what I do they say, "Oh I don't understand art, I can't even draw." (or worse, "I only like art I can understand.") Well, ya know what, I don't know how to make a car, but I sure appreciate being able to drive one.

A picture of Opal with Hope Sandoval before they changed their name.
Stinkweeds and Trax n' Wax offer different experiences/products and it is good to have a variety of record stores in downtown Phoenix.
