EVERY ONE IS EXCEPTED.

This seems oddly contradictory.

I think it is a good idea, but I wonder if there are enough local bands with releases to fill an entire store. Maybe so. Depends on the size of the store. I hope it works out, I will certainly buy records there, and stock some shelf space with our stuff.

Just in case you haven't responded to the ad yet, here's what you get:

FIRST AND FOREMOST WE APPRECIATE ALL THE INQUIRES AND EMAILS. INFACT I STILL HAVE 1,000 EMAILS TO SHIFT THROUGH AND IF I HAVEN'T RESPONDED TO YOUR EMAIL AS OF YET ITS BECAUSE I HAVE SO MANY SO PLEASE BE PATIENT.

THE MAIN QUESTION THATS BEEN ASKED IS HOW WILL THIS WORK. WELL THIS IS WHAT WE ARE GOING TO DO FOR YOU: WE ARE GOING TO SELL YOUR CD, WE ARE GOING TO POST YOUR POSTERS INSIDE THE STORE, WE ARE GOING TO PLAY YOUR MUSIC IN THE STORE WHILE CUSTOMERS SHOP, WE ARE GOING TO HAVE RADIO AND TV ADs FOR FEATURED ARTISTS OF THE WEEK, AND LIVE SUPERSTAR SPONSERED SHOWS WHERE ARTISTs WILL BE IN VIP SECTON AND RECIEVE LIMO RIDES.

OUR GOAL IS TO SELL YOUR CDS AND PROVIDE AN OUTLET FOR YOU TO STOCK YOUR PRODUCTs. IN RETURN WE ARE ONLY ASKING FOR A SMALL FEE. WE HAVE TWO PACKAGES IN MIND FOR THE STORE.

1: $45 MONTHLY FEE WITH NO PERCENTAGES FROM YOUR CD SALES. (ex. You sale 100 CDs for the month @ $10 per unit that equals $1000 which is ALL YOURS!) YOUR PAYOUT IS MONTHLY.

So they plan to stay in business via the band's money, not the customer's.

I'd suspected as much... the idea of a local-only record store has some appeal, but I have a hard time imagining it could make it. That said, I can't say I'd support a business model where they pay their bills by charging the bands. sounds much like a scam "record label" I wouldn't trust any further than I can spit. sure, there are local bands that sell some cds, but how often can they sell 100 cds a month out of a store? never mind keeping it up for a few months or a year. This store would have to have a good month to sell 500 discs total, never mind the # per band. anyway, I'm rambling. just sounds fishy to me, but good that Kristopher checked it out.

My thesis is called the "Black-Emperor-Says Theory" and holds that any any Phoenix-area indie rock festival there is a 100 percent probability that Emperors of Japan, Black Carl, and/or What Laura Says will be on the bill.
