favorite quote: "However, despite its great promise, many people worldwide have protested the construction of the particle accelerator, believing it could end the world. Many are fearful that the collider could spawn black holes, which they worry could devour the Earth."
this thing sounds like a lot of fun.

It's gonna be awesome, even if it does spawn Earth-devouring black holes.

While the reactor could produce black holes, according to physicists, they would be tiny and would not be capable of growing. The study states, "Each collision of a pair of protons in the LHC will release an amount of energy comparable to that of two colliding mosquitoes, so any black hole produced would be much smaller than those known to astrophysicists."
i like how they say, "don't worry it's all good, but yea it could produce black holes, they will just be really small."

My sister is living there right now, her boyfriend is a physisist studying at the LHC. He was telling me that the amount of information that the collider is going to spit out will be in digital format and will be so much info per second that they don't have enough computers and storage space to store it all. It's going to be like millions of TBs a second or something.
she said the center was really nice and they have a good cafeteria.

It better have a good cafeteria... it's like 3000 feet under ground.
That lunchtime commute to the local Geneva McDonalds would be a bitch. The stairs must be packed!!
