anyone read this book?

this guy i went out with a few times told me about it in regards to me studying psychology. i was like, "pick up artists, what does this have to do with me?" and he mentioned that this book showcases like a 'geeks' transformation into serious stud. so i read it. equal parts appalling and amazing and interesting. like these guys have this whole system for sleeping with "hot" girls (models, strippers, etc) and it works. faking confidence, reverse psychology, putting down the girls that you are trying to get with are all little tactics that they use. the only redeeming thing about the book is that the main guy eventually quits "the game" cause he realizes it is not bringing him happiness. but mystery, he has like several mental breakdowns, but continually comes back to the scene. and he has his own vh1 show. the whole phenomenon was nuts to me. i cant believe i have never heard of this til now.

people always bust on mystery and this type of mentality as being fully douchebaggy and all that. well, yeah it is but it works is the thing. as someone who completely lacks confidence and self-esteem, i find this kind of stuff interesting even though i don't really wish to partake in "the game". like you said about the one author, it works but only on a temporary level. i don't really care about scoring with some hot chick tonight if i'm still going to be lonely and depressed tomorrow night. and i sure as hell am not going to be wearing any Jamiroquai rip-off hats!

but even though i KNOW that mystery is kind of bad news as his stories and method are plastered all over television and the internet, i cant help but being oddly attracted to him. like if he did not dress like some anime avatar he would be kind of attractive. and he gives off this aura of intelligence and confidence...which yes, i know is totally constructed, but, like if i didn't know him and he was sans goggles and fuzzy hat, and i was chatting with him, i may be like "ooooh! this guys is fun!"

I think they were filming Myster-E's douchey VH1 show in Tempe recently.

I haven't read The Game but like a year ago my friend was all about that book.

I am guessing it's like all those psych books that tell you how to manipulate people for your benefit ("Persuasion: The art of getting what you want" etc.).

Shit is fucked up. Is this just about sex or is it about finding a partner?

People don't like to admit it, but none of us are 100% in control of our mind. We react certain ways to different situations, stimulus, etc. This is why "the game" works. It's not a specific plan to exploit everyone the same way, it's a plan to figure out how people react, and then exploit them based on that.

So yes, dudes are just like chicks and there are ways to exploit us just the same as we can do to you.
