what do you think of this? Dating people you meet on the internet.

I recently went on a lunch date with a dude who contacted me on myspace (we have mutual friends). it was quite nice actually.

My friend told me some crazy stories of dates she went on through OkCupid. crazy shit.

I am wondering what people's experiences are.

I have never done this because I have been with my old lady since before the webernet was really in my life BUT! I see nothing wrong with it. Just like meeting a dude or gal at a bar just be careful and always have a knife.

I've done it but I think the mutual friend thing is a good way to go. I've only ever dated a guy I didn't know/didn't know anyone in my life and that was kind of nice.

my experiences:

first girl i talked to/met: we went on a date. we concluded we should see each other again. she never talked to me again.

second girl i had several correspondences with: quite a few emails. eventually the emails slowed down. then they stopped with no explanation.

lots of other girls: try to talk to them, they either never respond or respond with what amounts to an "oh ok" message

last girl: talked a lot and agreed to meet up and we seemed to really be hitting it off, and then she disabled her account.

Just remember you haven't met them until you've really met them in real life.

I know some people that have built some great friendships with people they met from the internet but no real lasting love connections.

I think it's just like meeting someone out and about. I mean you never really meet that person regardless. It's always a front or what you precieve of them. Takes awhile to really get to know someone.

yeah, I met all my best friends on the internet one way or the other. I think I would have met them in real life eventually though.

Twice counts as dating. It's true, I read it on Wikipedia.
