I wish I could poop while I was driving (like a toilet/drivers seat) and be able to release the catch (in catapult form) at any time I want. see who rides my ass after being hit by a corn eyed grunt fish or 3.

I hate talking and driving and only do it rarely. texting while driving (and pooping) I have been guilty of more than a few times.

when i was a kid and my family would go on road trips (which we did a lot), my parents would make my sister and brother and I pee in a pot in the moving car when they didn't want to stop. It was the pee pot. It was blue with white paint specks on it. I don't remember any mistakes but do you know how hard it is for an 8 year old girl to pee in a pot while in a car that's whizzing* down the road at 70mph? The thought of it haunts me still....

Today my parents have that pot displayed in a bathroom at their house, a monument to their tyranny.

A few years ago, I was talking to shrink who was taking part in a study that concluded that: People that talk (this is before texting was so big) on phones while driving are far more distracted than those that have been drinking. Russian Roulette with a cell phone and a Dodge Neon. AWESOME.

i find that hard to believe because:

1: if i am driving with others in the car, i can talk to them no problem
2: i drive with one hand 90% of the time anyways
3: if i'm driving drunk i have to put a hand over one eye so there aren't multiple intersecting lines on the road, meaning i'm driving drunk, one handed, and one eyed, and probably trying to put on some really awesome song at the same time

i don't really see how putting a cellphone in that empty hand ups my distraction to beyond drunk levels. maybe it's the cell phone radiation affecting the brain, who knows.

i have become nearly an expert at driving with my knees, and i think i've scared people because of that more than anyone's ever scared me from texting.

one time my on tour with pinhead circus, otis had to pee so instead of stopping everybody braced him from behind and we opened the van door and he peed out, it got all over the side of the van, in hindsight that ranks up there with the dude who pretended to fall off the bridge and then did.

All the time when I tell people what I do they say, "Oh I don't understand art, I can't even draw." (or worse, "I only like art I can understand.") Well, ya know what, I don't know how to make a car, but I sure appreciate being able to drive one.

I don't think it's hard to believe. I'm not sure about what blood/alcohol percentage would be equivalent though. It's probably different for different people but I think most people have a problem with the two. talking to someone with you in the car is different than talking with someone on the phone. you are both there in the car.

I've seen people on phones driver slower, swerve, and break unnecessarily. Also they aren't listening to the road and their peripheral vision is impaired on the phone side of their head. I've noticed a few time a few people that have ended their call that their driving improves.

yes i think there have been studies done that show talking on the phone while driving is similar in impairment to drunk driving.

i will see if i can find them:
yeah this one but it's from Utah - those people don't know shit about drinking and driving

this one says that old peeps cant drive and talk on the celly very well....kinda duh....oldies best be learnin' to multi-task!

this is a pdf that compares cell use v. drunk driving

CNET story on the study

i didn't read any of this btw.

You are all forgetting the most reliable source of all.

Mythbusters did a segment that proved the same thing.

Phones are more dangerous than alcohol behind the wheel.

And, well, I don't drink and drive anymore. Now I'm sober and I rage against people who talk on the phone while driving.

Go me.
