Have you ever felt like selling most of your belongings and start fresh? I've been looking at all the shit I have and realising that I would be just as happy if most of it were gone. Not that I want to hitch-hike across american or anything, but it would be nice to be debt free and living without monetary shit causing stress.
You have no idea
well, maybe you do since you created this thread
but YES, I DO!
Maybe it's the beginning of our mid-life crisis?
now it's time to get a red convertible sports car

I already had my mid-life crisis last year. I've been feeling great since the beginning of the new year and this feels like some weird extension of that feeling. Like it might be part of my new direction.

There's lots of blogs out there about minimalist lifestyles and stuff. YMMV. One interesting one I read from Zen Habits (I think) he basically made a list of every possession he personally owned. So like his kids'/family's stuff didn't count and he left out books. But not counting those things he narrowed it down to 50 possessions.

I'm seriously thinking about thinning out my possessions, simplify my guitar setup, get rid of all my CD's (since they're on my IPOD) and sell most of my recording rig except for a few basics. I could put a big dent in my debt and take care of the clutter in my place.
do it. Working towards being debt free will take a lot of stress out of your life. Plus many of our possessions can easily be purchased again if you realize you do need to own a certain item. Say you got rid of all your Guns N' Roses and Milli Vanilli cds (after importing them to your computer of course), and then say a few weeks later you're like "fuck i want those Milli Vanilli cds back"
just go re-buy them. Yeah you're spending that money again but at least you know that it's those specific cds you have to have in your life and not your entire cd collection which you never listen to. 90% of the time, when i get rid of something (after over analyzing whether i'll ever need or use that object again) i forget that i ever even had it or needed it in the first place.
Out of sight, out of mind.

I have been thinking this too. I have a ton of equipment, some of which I haven't played through in a year or so

I'm going to give all of this serious thought over the next few days but I'm pretty sure I'm going to clean house and just keep the essentials (porn).

Now I've got plenty of room for my stuff and everything is organized. I could easily move in a day. I'm still the same idiot... but I haven't missed anything I got rid of!

Let's have a Shizz musical equipment super sale! Me and Donald aren't the only ones who probably have more guitars and shit than they know what to do with.
