Next Wed, Jun 2 @ 5-7pm the guys from Alwun House are hosting a neighborhood meet & greet... Food from Ranch Market, also potluck side dishes... Maybe entertainment from locals. Really trying to encourage newer folks from the arts community, even ASU to get to know their neighbors. NE corner of 12th & Roosevelt. Thx.

Alwun House was one of the first places I ever went when I moved to AZ (about 1993). Played some shows there. Had some car speakers stolen. Ha. I believe I even saw Yolanda Snow Songs sing a Sinead O'Connor tune a'capella there. Yep.
Don't live in the hood, but I believe Mig is close by. Bring some jalepeno cake for potluck? j/k

At first I thought you meant Jon Davis was going to be somewhere signing books and taking pics with fans.
And Garfield, Odie and Nermal full size costumers.
That's cool it's Alwun House though. I live on the opposite end at 11th ave and roosevelt, so I guess I don't qualify.

Not in Garfield, but definitely within walking distance. I'm on the northside in the (soon to be) Coronado district.
I knew of the Alwun house for years before I ever actually went there within the last year for Femocracy.
I love the place and miss the fact I had never been there previously.

while calling the place nice might be a stretch, it's come a long way towards being a good place to live in the last several years. it's moving quickly toward being a funky arts/college ghetto rather than a good ol fashioned poor, gang ridden, primarily migrant hispanic ghetto... still quite diverse & interesting, just less dangerous :-)
edit - yeah, Donald, I think you're definitely close enough, if you wanna come by. If they hadn't put the freeway through in the 1980's you'd technically be in North Garfield.
