ok, heres the deal: this is NOT my night, but its a 'punk and metal' (and pretty much anything heavy or fastish) night that started last week at Rip's on 16th just north of thomas. SUPPOSEDLY people are showing up around 9pm to swap records and dj and shit, but the people that run this place are kinda half assed (hence why i havent tried to book any shows there-the dude wouldnt answer any questions straight, meaning somebody would just end up fucked over). no cover, $1pbr cans, $2 high life pints, $3 well drinks. im showing up with a bunch of 7"s to trade and i may be spinning? (who fucking knows...like i said, these dudes arent good with things like straight answers). come out and scope it. i would like it to be a recurring thing since i happen to live across the street. and hey if it works out, they are down to have bands play on wednesdays too-so come out and bug the shit out of them about booking hahaha. the more people, the better. come out and look through my records with disdain and have a high life. they have free popcorn too wooooooooooooooooooooooooo

it was fun, i fell in the street on my way home after drinking too much inadvertantly. not a ton of people, but it was a decent turn out. nobody was really down to swap records though. oh well, i had fun djing. definitely worth a look if you are bored on a wednesday! the taco place across the street delivers to the bar until nine!

its not really organized...i wish it was. i didnt have stop/start times, just took over randomly twice for about a half hour each. i have no say in who spins, but brett is cool, just go talk to him. i may not be there this wednesday, we will see.

its very possible, but ive tried to talk to davey (the owner) and he is a strange guy that doesnt give straight answers and is kinda sheisty. so i would NEVER want to book a touring band there. we can try with all locals? i just dont want someone to get screwed with his flakiness. saturday afternoon shows could be cool there though, theres the taco place across the street, the middle eastern deli (which is also amazing) and we can get em to put college football on to REALLY up tha punx. it would have to be over 21 though, which is weird for matinees.
