What the hell man . . .
"I go in with my kids to go get doughnuts at the Safeway," Biggs said. "It's one thing to walk through the liquor department to go to the bakery, but it's something else when you've got people there serving alcoholic beverages."
Seriously . . .
I hardly drink myself, and understand that you want to raise your kids in some specific kind of way (even if it is ass-backwards) but the quotes in this story just point to some moronically outdated thinking.
ugh.

I don't think he's closet ... but whatever way, no matter his background it's just flippin' over the top . . .
what next, black wrap around covers over the Cosmo magazine in the checkout line, to keep kids from seeing the word s*x?!

eggs should be illegal too
they are abortions
only a fertilized egg would fall into that category. an unfertilized egg, which is what you'd get from the store or from chad's chicken coop, would probably be more closely compared to you having your period.
right? i think. i don't know shit about chickens.

HA!
Chickens are sinners because they create an unborn fetus without conception.
Wait, what?
They're still sinners.

Lewis recently called on local grocers to "withstand the temptation" to offer free taste-testing of beer, wine and spirits at their stores.

well, it's certainly his right to voice his opinion. that's the downside of democracy - even stupid people get to have their say. in the short term, other conservatives may applaud him and his ban may gain acceptance. and if that's how gilbert wants to run their town, that's their call.
of course, if i were the owner of a grocery store, where my margins are razor thin to begin with, i'd do everything i could to stop him. and i'd think twice if i was about to open up a store in his area. maybe i'd move it outside the city limits and put it in chandler or tempe instead. point being, in the long term, this isn't going to prevent anyone from becoming an alcoholic, and all he's doing is removing money from the city's tax income.
i find it ironic that he'd affiliate himself with the republican party. this morality police stance is the polar opposite of their small government/free enterprise mantra. ahhh, hypocrisy.
