Read this on pitchfork and thought it was funny.

A bunch of UK artists are attempting to push a new recording of John Cage's completely silent piece for the Christmas #1.

Last year they made RATM's Killing the in the Name of the #1. The facebook group is Cage against the machine.

The group performing the track will include Pete Doherty, Billy Bragg, The Big Pink, UNKLE, Orbital, Coldcut.
followed up by remixes by Hot Chip and others.

The proceeds go to charity including one for Tinnitus :)

There is no sound. It's 4 mins and 33 secs of silence, in three movements. :)

It was originally performed on piano, but has since been performed by entire orchestras.

I'd still call it a musical piece (if you equate sound to music). I saw it "performed" once and you become very aware of all the other sound in the room - air handlers, squeaks, creeks, people coughing and squirming in their seats.....

Moog even made a pedal a few years ago that was a tribute to this piece.
