Yeah a friend of mine got on me about the HuffPo agenda thing. I don't care about that site and their agenda is obvious there. Raffling a gun is still completely dumb.

Oh, I agree raffling guns are about as stupid as it gets. There is no defending that at all. Just saying taking a select few and making a whole state look bad is just lame.

It seems that the only ones who have any power, though, are the extremes of one side or the other.

that's because nobody votes. or more accurately, the more politically extreme you are, the more likely you are to vote. thus, the more extreme candidates win. phx is the 6th largest city in the country and has 1.45 million residents - that's not the whole metro area, just phoenix proper - and we had 110,000 votes cast in the mayoral election. that's fucking insane. maybe it's like that everywhere, i don't know. but it's still ridiculous.
