Has anybody been to club freedom? Did anybody else that had a show scheduled at Nita's see that e-mail? They're starting to do live bands and are offering their services. I can post the e-mail here if there is interest.

I wonder if they have Homeland Security at the door. Pffft. Ppfffftt.

Club Freedom - I think you need to show your RNC invitation at the door.

Some of us tossed around the idea of dressing up and walking in there some day.
Never happened.
They have spotlights outside every once in a while; I just assumed it was a prize fight locale, hummer dealership, or strip club.

My friends band plaued there and got pretty screwed over. If I remember right they didn't have a PA and didnt inform the band, then told them anyone who wasnt 18 had to be in the balcony. Or somethign along those lines. But I still want to check it out with my own eyes.

Is that the place on Apache and Rural??

If it is, it used to be called Max's 919. Still a dance club but they used to have live bands a couple nights a week. My old cover band used to play there every Sunday night. This is a lot further back than I like to remember but they had a good sized stage but we used to hire a guy to come in to do sound. The strobe lights and fog machines really added to the effect of those Cure covers we were playing(we knew 11 I think??? ugh.)

Matt, the Winner's (AKA the Metrosexual's) wouldn't have any problems there. ;) I am looking forward to seeing you kids in action tomorrow night...What is that Ted Dancin Machine all about?

I have been there a lot to go dancing and see DJs. That's cool they want to do live bands. It's a really neat setup since it's two stories and the second floor overlooks the dance floor and the stage. Plus there's a patio. And it's really big upstairs and downstairs with tons of booths. I have never seen live bands there before but the DJs sound good, so I would imagine there is a good sound system. I was just there last Friday for Larry T, the originator of electroclash. It used to be called Pompeii.

They are an electro-mechanical simulation of Ted Dansen.

I went there last week. It wasn't THAT bad. I think the beer was hella expensive, that was my only complaint. There was this pretty sick MC kickin some flow. He covered an Aesop Rock number, that impressed me. I think his name is Blueprint, or something like that. It was pretty good. I have no clue if he was local or not.

I guess one of the guys from public enemy was supposed to spin a little that night, but we took off before that.

Terminator X is a badass mofo. I saw him play after his solo record came out with a TON of special guests at the old 9:30 club back east. Too bad Flava wasn't there.
