Say you had two weeks until you are paralyzed from the waist down. What would be on your list of things to do prior to that event?

Keep in mind that you are already have significant problems with your legs (going on a hike means walking from the car to the trailhead, taking a break, and walking back to the car).

You also have a dentist appointment at 2pm on Oct. 8th, so you gotta stay in town for that.

At the risk of sounding obvious, I would probably spend most of the time on sexual gratification.

what both weener and joe said.. whole lotta dancin' and a whole lotta humpin'. and running i guess.. hiking. maybe i'd take a boom box and an air mattress to tonto natural bridge and when i wasn't hiking, i'd be dancin' to the boombox, or humpin' on the mattress. but then again, i'd probably wanna be around other dancing people so unless i brought a bunch of people with me, i'd have to stay in town. and yeah, i'm postponing the dentist appt.

and i hope this doesn't have to do with the medical issues you were talking about and why you were needing to sell your stuff. :-(

Eh...I dunno about sharing this here.

But I've got The Cancer. I have tumor in my spinal cord at the T-11/12 level. I had a surgery about a year and a half ago. I had to learn how to walk again due to damage done by the tumor and surgery. I underwent radiation treatment. After about a year, I was basically as back to normal as I was going to get. I would always have a limp. I would always need a cane for long distance walks. I wouldn't run or jump again. But I was riding my bike with the help of clip in pedals. I could still play drums although some kick patterns weren't doable. And then everything fell apart in the span of about 2 weeks. The tumor came back in a more aggressive form. I had a second surgery exactly 2 months ago. Learned to walk again. Just finished my second round of chemo on friday (1st round wasn't bad, 2nd round made me sleep all weekend and my appetite is all messed up).

The neurosurgeons have offered me what can only be likened to a deal with the devil. Basically, the tumor will come back again and it will continue to be more aggressive. It will eventually kill me. As an alternate, radical approach, the surgeons can completely remove my spinal cord where the tumor exists (that's the short of it, it's a little more involved than that). In exchange for the use of my lower body, I get a decent chance at a cure (not a guarantee).

I have accepted the surgery. The morning of October 13 is the last time I will ever walk.

Talk about a life changing event. I'm sorry to hear that you would have to make such a decision.

So, what ARE you going to do before the surgery?

Sorry to hear about your situation, man.

My list of things to do

- Swimming

- Get a full body massage, especially the legs (In addition to probably feeling good, I imagine that such a surgery might probably affect sensation in your legs - I have no idea).

- Borrow or rent a Segway

- Go on a short roadtrip with a friend

- Pick up the babies and toddlers in your family/extended family and fly them around like airplanes

fuck, dude. from what it sounds like you weren't really given much of a choice. i'm sorry you're having to go through that shit. i hope you get a chance to do some of the things you really want to before having to go through this. i don't know you but if there's anything within reason that i can help with, feel free to shoot me a message. good luck, man.

sorry to hear about the cancer man :(
that's a crazy deal....damn.

some of these you could prolly do without the use of legs i but i would:
swim in the ocean
hike the grand canyon and/or havasu falls - obvs if you have trouble hiking already this one is out
learn to skateboard and learn a skateboard trick and film myself doing it perfectly
run from the cops for something (do it!)
climb camelback mountain/a mountain near you
go camping, walk in a stream
play soccer
ride a horse (preferably on a beach)
build something - a shed or garden bed or something...
climb a tree
go ice skating
shoot a big ass machine gun
go skydiving
scuba dive/snorkel somewhere cool
reschedule my dentist appointment
go tubing on the salt river or a river tube ride close to my house

i'll have to think of more

jump over a fire!
learn a dance i dont know (tap, ballroom, salsa, breakdancing etc.)
shave my legs
dress up real nice and go to a fancy dinner with good looking person
challenge some little kids to a race and beat them badly. then make fun of them.
go sledding or skiing or snowboarding in flagstaff or somewhere where there's snow right now
go to disneyland/world AND/OR go to a water park like Wet N' Wild
go to car racing school
fly a plane/go to one of those fighter plane fight schools
hike to machu pichu in peru
