Any help? All the dentists I've been referred to are PPO and will not give referrals to other dentists.

Pretty please?

i havent been to the dentist in 2 years. my last dentist broke up with me cuz my job changed to a totally shitty dental health insurance plan that most dentists i've tried wont take.

there might be some recommendations in the Currently Recommending thread

I went to this guy ages ago until my insurance changed. As dentists go, he was ace.

Does your insurance have a provider list?

I'm currently kinda between dentists atm.

I do have a provider list online when I log in.

You just never know with some dentists, which is why I'm looking for a referral.

Like, Western Dental is on the hmo list. Um, NO.

However, it's kinda fucked up because even good dentists may try to fuck someone (financially) who doesn't have insurance.

Or, good insurance at that.

I'm in the same situation as you and this gentleman was recommended to me by a co-worker:

Ken Lepinskas, D.D.S, P.C.
1277 E Missouri Ave Suite 108
85014
602-285-0005

The office sent her a text the next day after a filling or something to ask how it felt, that's pretty nice. Whether they'll fuck someone over who doesn't have great insurance, I would still count on it.

maybe my experiences have been isolated, but when you have no insurance i've found that the prices are actually cheaper. the dentist stands to gain nothing by fucking you. if he gives you a bill you can't afford, you're not going to pay it. and that's pretty much the end of it. it's not worth their time to try to become a collections agency (or to deal with an actual collections agency, because then they'd get even less of the money).

the price they charge to the insurance companies is generally higher. you could do an experiment - ask them for the price of a specific procedure, like a cavity filling, and say you have blue cross or something. then ask what the price is if you don't have insurance. i'll bet it's lower.

I have good insurance. My gal does not (yet).

She needs work done and has come home crying on more than one occasion regarding dental financing.

Just a matter of finding someone that someone i know likes. Easy squeezy

I'd bet it's not lower though. Just saying. I've seen the cost differential.

right - i see what you're saying. miscommunication on my part.

the rate they charge the insurance company is generally higher than the rate they would charge you directly if you had no insurance. you'd still wind up paying more if you don't have insurance, since the insurance company would (in theory) cover a big chunk of that cost.
