I knew Marco casually, booked his band a good handful of times, dating all the way back to the original Paper Heart.

https://www.facebook.com/marcoholt

My biz partner knew him before that even, and although I didn't know him well, I can say Marco was a really genuine person who loved music and loved this community.

He died at 54(?) years old, which I feel is young, but he went down swingin' and left behind more good work than a lot of much older people.

*5/4: I just realized I typed Hold instead of Holt in the subject line. So not happy with myself.*

Marco Holt was one of the best human beings I have ever encountered. Just a great guy, always willing to help someone in need and always with a smile on his face. Marco will be missed dearly by so many. The last stuff he did with the final lineup of the Tremulants was some of his best work IMO. BINK! is also a killer album. He has an incredible catalog of work (30 years?) that he left behind and is an inspiration to never stop working and to put everything you have into what you love until the bittersweet end.

RIP.

I didn't know him well at all but remember him being a nice fella and I really enjoyed his band The Loud Americans.

Marco really helped me through a rough spot in my life.

I hadn't been as close to him the last few years, but he will live on in my heart.

His selfless actions on so many occasions have led me to stop and rethink myself when I'm feeling angry.

He was soooo positive he coulda been an electron.

My new record is being dedicated to him.

and Christopher Hitchens.

I don't think he'll mind, that's good company.

Rest in Peace, Marco.

Please post if/when there are services or a memorial. I will be in attendance.

I put something up about Marco on my site, you can click the link in my signature and read it there. But I'll just say here again, he was a truly great guy and passionate musician, and my memories of Phoenix and its music scene are forever linked with him.

This is really sad. I didn't know him, but I saw the Tremulants at Ice House, and I really liked their music. My condolences to his friends and family. :(
