#1395447 Harden The Fuck Up February

Posted by armor on Yesterday, 07:00 PM

Before I realized that the electronic machines at the gym put coins in the pockets of the utility company destroying my homeland, and started just rowing instead.... I really liked the infinite stairs machine, I would always do at least 40 flights because that's the height of Nakatomi plaza.

Hopped back on the cardio bandwagon this month. There's a 5k next month I'd like to knock out.

What year will the doomsday clock advance to 11:60?

Last weekend in order to get to the self defense skillshare I had to ride my motorbike in a blizzard. It makes me really glad that I got a bike designed to be buried up to the tailpipe in mud because otherwise all the road salt would really take a toll on it.

Sometimes I have a lot of manic energy and I forget to eat, so anyways I've already lost a few of the pounds I gained since december... biking in the cold means I need to eat the equivalent of an extra meal per day and gaining and shedding weight like Christian Bale does not feel like an advantage, I really need better meal planning to maintain my weight, and my goals aren't that lofty, I don't want to become cursed like Joe Rogan and have to eat a flock of chickens every month to maintain the mass.

This month I go back to school to become a plumber. Being a scientist doesn't provide as much opportunity for environmental damage mitigation as I'd hoped.

I'm not going to spend a cent if I don't have to and all my medium T-shirts are going to become tight.

Church every Saturday and fight club every Sunday. I already missed this Saturday but I've been accustomed to graveyard shift and am having a really hard time re acclimatizing to waking up before noon.

I'm tired of memes being everywhere.

Facebook? So many memes. Reddit? Memes. So many memes.

Alaska is otherwise still pretty free of memes though?

I follow a lot of human rights and environmental politics and the ability for memes to spread misinformation and hatred is really frightening.

Think back to old propaganda posters... they were the meme format before it had that name.

#1393687 Fascism and reconciliation in Canada.

Posted by armor on 11 January 2019 - 01:40 AM

I read a little bit of it but thought it was basically like the Dakota Access Pipeline protest that happened last year. This seems more complicated. Regardless of what has been signed and such, I feel that all new fossil fuel lines and activity should be halted in order to make the transition to renewable energy.

I've met some veterans of the Standing Rock showdown and to hear about the overt white supremacy and human rights abuse that happened there is sickening. Young female activists going missing, pigs using pepper spray and rubber bullets and freezing water on elderly women and children just concerned about protecting their water... and guess what happened? A new pipeline built to world class standards blew up and contaminated a bunch of water just like they were trying to prevent.

I thought that was a feat over a decade ago....

I picked 11:60 as a tattoo symbol because I assumed it would be here for a long time. I called it! Still on page 1!

Are many of you south of the 49th familiar with native affairs in Canada? Does anyone remember the Oka crisis?

Right now different branches of government have been officially apologizing for abducting children in the 60's and putting them boarding schools that have fatality rates like concentration camps.

At the same time stuff like this is going down.

Given that they're actually not part of Canada but another nation that has held continuous occupation since the ice age, if a cop fires the first shot and they return fire and start killing cops and when all the dust settles the U.N. is going to have to side withe the indigenous peoples, it sure is a good thing that people are more interested in peace!

This is riotworthy!, good thing we handle shit like Canadians...

Edit: and for those who don't know me so well, I'm grew up in a backwoods corporate sacrifice zone at the 56th parrallel, that was barely more than a fur trade post prior to WW2.

#1393279 Is there a VHS equivalent to the cassette with a cord on it

Posted by armor on 04 January 2019 - 07:02 PM

Why was I just thinking about this the other day?

Aren't audio tapes coming back into style? I wonder if there's a reverse tape adapter that connects to your bluetooth audio system. Full circle

Tapes are dumb. I had to live with formats that ate my recordings when I was a youngling. No more, hipsters!

I agree. Plus you had to guess where the next song was if you wanted to fast forward to it.

Just use your phone and a bluetooth connection when in the car.

I'm not saying tapes aren't dumb, just something I've noticed as far as bandwagon nostalgia goes. The fascination with mixtapes has only grown since the release of the Guardians of the Galaxy movie. I can't stand how tape film gets worn so easily. And I couldn't tell you how many tapes of mine have been eaten by tape decks.

If your tape gets worn it's time to format a new mixtape!
Tapes were way superior to CDs for use in the car, and if you can't commit to listening to the album and need to skip around in the songs when you should be focused on driving safely you need to reevaluate your priorities. Nobody wants to end up in the hospital because they needed to shuffle songs or eat sunflower seeds or pick your nose or whatever.

But you guys, tape sounds so warm, don't you want your pixels and polygons to look warm, too?

Gotta have that HI FI audio, gotta have that constant background sound of eggs sizzling in an adjacent room in 180 gram high fidelity!

#1393278 What happened to you at work today

Posted by armor on 04 January 2019 - 06:57 PM

Fuck my boss. He's trying to guilt trip me and others into working long hours. Apparently you have to be an entrepreneur to understand putting in long hours. Fuck that. I worked long, long hours back when I was a game tester. I know about that shit and it's not healthy. Fucker thinks it's a badge of honor to miss out on family events just to work. And then tries to threaten the in house development team. Fuck you. Fire us and go full out source if you're so concerned about results and money.

Set up an anonymous email address and send him this. Do it anonymously because people can get defensive when you challenge their beliefs, and you may not want to end up singled out for challenging their alleged authority.
Studies Show Working Overtime is Basically Pointless.

I find that being over tired makes me screw up more and incur costs in my life that negate my overtime, unless I do my second job as a motorcycle courier which is actually pretty fun to get paid to be biker ninja, I manage to deliver soup and coffee without spilling, fuck overtime in the factory, I'm probably the only motorcycle courier in Western Canada right now (besides the Hells Angels obvs.)

#1393258 Depression And Other Social Issues

Posted by armor on 04 January 2019 - 03:48 PM

You can get a hold of me too I just recovered my old skype account armorthehomeless, I'm sorry I haven't made time to talk earlier but my previous experience with international phone calls has been a financial kick in the teeth and I feel like life is becoming a financial concentration camp.

I remember a time when I was unemployed and extraordinarily depressed and I was thinking about making a permanent bad decision but instead of doing that I got a bicycle from the hardware store and rode to Portland to hang out with you, it was a pivotal time in my life and you and Alex and Mark being there for me made it possible. I bounced from one of my lowest points, an irrationally depressed state, thanks to your camaraderie and hospitality. Life has pitched me some scenarios since then that are country song sad, but I have never felt Elliot Smith song sad again since then because I held on even when giving up seemed to make sense.

I don't know what else to say right now.

#1393238 Is there a VHS equivalent to the cassette with a cord on it

Posted by armor on 04 January 2019 - 02:28 PM

This is definitely a far out idea, I would reckon that no such has ever existed if not for technical reasons for economic ones. I don't know enough to say it is possible or not.

Do you know that all those cassette adapters are made in the same factory and they get branded differently?
I've owned several and scrapped a few of friends as well. They always made too much clicking and whirring noises,
get this
you take them apart and there is clockwork inside.
It does nothing, take it out and the noise stops, the flip tape feature still works.

Somewhere there is a factory where people are installing totally superfluous clockwork in your cassette adapters and nobody has the nerve to say anything about it.
Or maybe nobody involved in the production has a cassette tape deck. Sad and bizarre.
