#1402550 Weight And Exercise Thread

Posted by armor on 10 July 2019 - 11:05 PM

I got back to the gym for the first time since my injuries. I've lost 7 pounds over the last 3 months to atrophy.

I used the endless stair machine for 190 flights of stairs. The Burj Khalifa in Dubai the tallest building in the world is 163 stories, and I assume some parkades...

Oh and yesterday I donated blood, so yeah, feeling pretty good.

#1402438 Has Anyone Noticed How Good The Real World Has Been Lately?

Posted by armor on 09 July 2019 - 10:22 AM

My last post in the depression thread was pretty whingy and complainy, but it's tough out there, capitalism, blah.

Today I got hired for a job that should elevate me above the poverty line for the first time ever, but I probably won't have free weekdays for quite some time, and all I had to do was borrow ten grand and become indentured apprentice... being confined with millenials was the hardest part.
I should be grateful that in the course of all those entry level jobs I learned a lot that can contribute to building a retirement home.

The trades college has a lot of comics in one spot.

I've been re-reading Akira and Sandman, they may be even more enjoyable the second time around, but I feel a little guilty in a world with so much novelty to be treading over the same ground again.

So in the film production of Akira did they axe so much content with female characters because the felt that they would be recovering their budget from a primarily male audience?

It's easy to love the film... but seeing how much content didn't make the jump still feels like some sort of tragedy.

#1402329 Depression And Other Social Issues

I typed a paragraph or two about my battle with the CRA and then I deleted it, because I haven't won yet, it's hardly words of encouragement.

I had to talk to several agents before I got someone competent who figured out that I had declared my skipthedishes income in the wrong box, which got me taxed at a higher than poverty rate, even though my annual net income was below the poverty line. With all my education and experience 2020 will be the first year I make it above the poverty line, and I could have just done that right out of high school if I'd chosen to be a blue collar glue sniffing shit piper. Fuck scientists, fuck medical professionals, fuck farmers, they all deserve crushing poverty right? These other folk typically 2 deviations lower on the IQ scale in tradeschool, these insolent juvenile bigots that just need to learn to read a tape measure to string wire and pipe together are the real heroes in our society that deserve to be compensated richly better than poverty! Oh sorry for my digression...

So what happened with me and the CRA is, I claimed my self employment income in the wrong box. I also claimed expenses because you make deliveries with gas, not pixie dust. Anyways I missed the deadline for submitting gas receipts, and they zeroed all my expenses and additionally my tuition tax credits for the year which I had submitted evidence, but they didn't zero the declared income that inflated my tax deduction erroneously, no, that they keep in their favour. The people at the top of this system view us as their vassals, especially western Canada.

I talked to four different people before getting someone that realized I declared my income in the wrong category. Don't assume that just because someone on the other end has a job as a bureaucrat, that they are a competent bureaucrat.

#1402106 songs that sound like video game songs

Posted by armor on 01 July 2019 - 03:43 PM

The Max Payne 3 theme that they play over and over while he mopes and drinks, the bit on the cello is like the acappella wooping, of Ol Dirty Bastard,. He does an abbreviated version in a few songs.
So does this actually belong in the sister thread?

Dirty Dancin

That on Cello, haha, because Max Payne is an old dirty bastard.

That was an amazing day of video game music.

I'll try to tackle this in semi Chronological order.
After arriving I walked around the place and lament the days when it was one room and there were MAMEs and there was O.S.P. (on-site-poutine)
er... no, the way this event has grown is definitely good.
I control a Battle Toad while I wait for the chips.
ChrisssKey sorry I was too late for your panel, I smoke pot and take public transit when I'm bikeless.
Maybe the instruction manual should say that Rollie takes place in the year 2XXX. Keep fit.
Pongball's soundtrack sounds great, I can't remember the game's name. It reminds me of Journey to Silius.
Viking Guitar, you did a great performance and I like your selections.
I ran into a friend who learned Zero Gen's setlist for the Northwest Fan Expo a few years ago, Mike from Surrey's Ghettovators.
Runaway Four, thanks for playing Battle with Gygas, keeping that sounding articulated and not mushy at full gallop sounds tough.
I tried to start a Communist Utopia on Simcity2000 before realizing that'd steal my attention for too long.
Played Portal 2 with a stranger while Jewel Maiden played some nice DOOF DOOF style chips and Opus Arise played Dancing Mad, very nice.
Runaway 4 part deux: Thanks for having a medley about riding bikes.
Oh and if y'all had merch for sale I'll seek out digital editions, becasue sometimes I want to burn my home down rather than dust the stuff in it.

Fuck this administration

I seriously feel that this is the kind of tyranny that the second amendment is supposed to protect against. Of course none of the gun fuckers will do what is right. Only "They're taking our guns!" except that they're not.

People are ready to rise up... if you mess with their cows!

3%ers' and Oath Keepers showed up in numbers that could resulted in a massacre...

Government agents showed up in numbers that could have resulted in a massacre...

#1401501 1st World Problems...

Posted by armor on 19 June 2019 - 06:19 PM

This is a dystopian checkpoint. :(

I think Philip K Dick is a prophet, not an author, but the church hasn't been accepting new prophets for a while now...

Addendum: all the gas station pumps now have frickin video screens now blaring ads with sound that never turn off ugh :(

Also I was going to restring this morning and the little D'Addario baggie was giving me trouble, so I cut it open with my wire cutters and cut the ball end right off of the low B string...after I'd already cut the old one off the guitar :(

My mom sent a textile gift in the mail and I opened it with scissors and it came out of the packing looking like a Charlie Brown ghost costume. D'oh.

#1401500 Depression And Other Social Issues

Posted by armor on 19 June 2019 - 06:15 PM

I have a lot to say about class warfare and propaganda and being stuck in the company of sheep and bigots but I'll hold off on that...

A couple months ago I was for the second time this year hit by a car. The other driver can't admit they turned without looking claims that I "flew out of nowhere" when I was going sub speed limit in a straight line... so I've been accused of teleportation and levitation, and the insurance company won't make a call on who's at fault so everyone loses.

Damages to my bike, were exaggerated to make it a total loss and I notified the public and private insurance and they had nothing to say about it and the bike went to auction while I wasn't paid enough to replace it, so I've just been the victim of fraud and grand theft moto but I can't do anything about it being unable to prove that it was vandalized post accident because I left in an ambulance instead of taking photos, it's a david and goliath situation, except goliath wins.

I'm so depressed without a motorcycle it's ridiculous, so I guess what's really depressing me is that I can't be content without something that can always be taken away from me. But at least the solution to my problems is a tangible thing, and not uncommon. Sure they could be dangerous, but at least if you get around quicker you spend less time exposed to being potentially run over by idiots, and those are everywhere. I find more opportunities to glare and shake my fist at drivers as a pedestrian than I ever did as a biker, even though I cover much less distance.
I was hit on a bicycle route without a painted bike lane at a speed that isn't uncommon to road bikes or electrics. Without motorcycle gear on I might've been so fucked up that I'd have to change careers, so I think I'm feeling some sort of PTSDish reluctance to ride bikes without the gladiator gear, and I can't wear 15 pounds of head to toe leather and pedal an 18 speed bike up and down hills,,,  I don't want the rest of my life to be defined by somebody else's mistake.

My penis and testicle dented the gas tank... Ouch! What do you do?

Thinking about life without velocity seems more depressing than life without sex even, I'm glad I'm still firing on two cylinders though.
