Of course, we're disciplined enough to have saved last year's edition. Here's a color comparison. Both are very dark for summer time here in Phoenix.

Testing the smell: the 2005.

Testing the smell: the 2006 has a more pleasing aroma.

Now for tasting. Christine's not so impressed with the 2005. It reminds her of a barleywine, a style of beer which she does not care for.

John also finds the 2005 to be like a barleywine. This pleases him.

John and Christine bought three bottles of the 2006 this year. They snuck into one a few days ago so they both already know they like it very much.

Christine says, "this beer is suprising and fools you because it's so dark, it looks like it's going to be a thick beer. But it's suprisingly light in flavor."

John thinks the 2006 gets better the more it comes to room temperature.

So, John likes the 2005 but Christine thinks the 2006 is much better.

Hooray for the 2006! It was delivered to Phoenix area liquor stores six days ago. Good luck finding a bottle now, though. Word is out about how awesome these beers are. Tops liquor went through seven cases in two days, in the middle of the week. We were proactive!

sweet battle.
personally i just had an '06 a couple of days ago and i was a little disappointed
i guess i expected too much out of this beer. it tasted very similar to a trois pistoles
in my opinion. i prefered the '04 over the '05 and '06, the '05 was a little too spicy for me.
anyways we have an allocation of 4 cases at the restaurant where i work at and we're definitely
not selling them out, so if you have a hard time finding them come on down. we have a
bunch of good beers right now. stone barley wine, russian imperial stout, double bastard, ruination,
north coast old stock '04 (not a typo) and '05 i believe, duvel, chimay grande réserve, bear rebuplic racer 5,
hitachino japanese classic ale and red rice ale, and many more!
oh and john we have an arrogant bastard burger where we finish the burger
in a bastard pan sauce it's pretty fucking badass, i bet you would dig it.
anyways enough whoring out
the VE was good. 7.5 out of 10.

Emperors of Japan
Myspace

My thesis is called the "Black-Emperor-Says Theory" and holds that any any Phoenix-area indie rock festival there is a 100 percent probability that Emperors of Japan, Black Carl, and/or What Laura Says will be on the bill.
