I will be moving to Tucson in the beginning of June to go to grad school at UofA. I don't have a single friend down there. Do you know anyone who is looking for a roomate? Do you know of any bands I might like? Do you know of any places to eat or drink that are not to be missed? I would love to hear all about it!
I know TXN purdy good....come see me at Bikini...i'll fill y'in

Shark Pants!!!!
Yeah, Shark Pants are from Tucson, and they'll be at the Trunk Space this Saturday with the Complainiacs.
So, you can check them out, give them hugs, and have new friends waiting for you in Tucson!

i go to the Epic Cafe every time i'm in tucson, on 4th ave a few blocks south of speedway.
i don't know if this is still around, I used to go to tucson a few times a month and there was this warehouse that had interesting things happening at it, the Mat Bevel Institute. ask around, i'm out of the loop now.
If you like bicycles, go check out BICUS, a cycling co-op, where you can volunteer, get bicycle advice, or see weird hippy hardcore shows. super nice people. super nice people all over tucson.

bison witches (soup/sandwich/bar)
chicago store (guitar gear graveyard & oddities)
itl cafe (if it's still there)
7 black cats (if it's still there)
red room/the grill (a tucson institution, worth a shot even if you aren't crazy about it)
what're you studying? I'd suggest trying to find a place to live in the old neighborhood between 4th ave and the university... great houses, walkable to the UA and 4th ave/downtown. if you could find a place in the old barrio south of downtown, that'd be awesome too (but perhaps priced beyond a grad student income). hmmm... I'll think some more on this. (I used to live there, but moved up here about 6 years ago now).

Can I get a time line for this show? I have a party that day I'm trying to schedule around.

i usually just go to Chaffin's diner now for late night burger cravings although their menu is way more extensive than the grills, and they're never really busy at all.
Epic Cafe is good too i guess. nice place to hang out with hippies and have a decent sandwich.
Time Market has really good pizza and its a sweet little general store/deli/pizza/coffee place to just chill at, plus they always have a good rotation of ridiculously cute girls working there. and an australian guy.
Char's is a thai food place on 5th and Swann that is pretty much the best thai in town, comparable to Thai Rama in phx. Great atmosphere and friendly staff but sometimes less than stellar service.
Bisonwitches has really good sandwiches but sometimes it gets ridiculously busy and full of people and sometimes its so loud you have a hard time carrying a conversation with someone across the table from you.
For mexican there's a place, well more of a van, thats about 5 to 8 minutes away from u of a on the other side of the freeway on st. marys rd located on the side of a carwash. this place has the best burritos i've ever had in recent memory, totally worth a stop but you have to be able to at least say "un burrito de asada por favor".
the cup cafe at hotel congress is also good for breakfast.

The show is slated to start at 8pm - Ultramaroon and the Dropouts are playing in addition to Shark Pants and the Complainiacs.
So, I can't see Shark Pants going on any earlier than 10pm, and probably not even that early. I don't know.
