Biggest gamble of the season. The Suns had the best record in the West the way they were presently constructed. Now they’re hinging their hopes on an aging center who, at first glance, seems a poor fit for their go-go offense. Still, it’s too early to write off O’Neal just yet. It’s clear the Suns had lost some of their passion, and the Big Cactus has already restored that. Now he just needs to stay on the floor. Phoenix also thinks it has a better-than-even shot at convincing Brent Barry to sign on. If healthy, he’s a good ball-handler and shooter who thrives in the open floor.

I'm going to start pushing Saguaro Shaqtus as O'Neal's new, horrible nickname.

There isn't time to "get adjusted" and "learn the roles" -- it's crunch time assholes! A 3 game losing streak = no playoffs for you. Suns better hope and prey they don't have to play:

The Suns this season have been plagued by no energy... no passion. Last nights game was a great example... the Pistons one was too. You know what they blamed the Pistons loss on? ... It being a noon game....

Fact is, Suns can't beat the best teams. They're now something like 5-14 against the West's playoff teams.

They have to prove themselves.

better add warriors and nuggets to that list. both are running teams and the suns are showing they can't keep up right now.

they'll make the playoffs, i'm not worried about that. i'm just worried that they won't be clicking by then. plenty of time though. i've always said the nba season is too long. this year i'm glad. suns need some extra time right now.

I'm surprised at your mini-despondency considering your glee over Officer Shaqleberry's arrival.

Still, this slide sucks and I hope the bleeding stops, but ...

I think you're right about that energy, fun, and spark being missing from this season.

In a weird way, I think if the suns drop further in the standings (not too far, though - it's a flat, flat earth in the Western Conference), it actually might give them that underdog vibe, which I think might rekindle those flames of fun.

I really hope that's not needed, but it might be burning passion that they need in the playoffs.

That Dallas v. Spurs game last night was pretty good, even though I really wanted them both to lose. I was forced to root for Dallas just because I hate Bruce Bowen and Ginobli that much more than Mark Cuban.

the game's already over and done with, but philly isn't an easy win by any means, which was apparent when the suns played them.

their record is very misleading. they've been one of the tougher opponents in the east for the past month or two. i'm hoping the sixers make the playoffs and can avoid the pistons and celtics.
