The date has been set - November 8th. 2003
The location has changed: 1607 w pecos ave Mesa AZ 85202
This is Ant's house - use Yahoo Maps
The start time will be as close to 1 o'clock as I can get it.
Of course, we need more fighters - talk people into it.
Any fighters under 18 will have to have a parent PRESENT
(just in case you need a little ER)
Spectators are welcome
So far - I have confirmation for only 2 fights
but there should be more. The rules are the same:
No stoppages - other than ring out safety stops (fighters will be stopped and
+dragged to center in same position)
Any safety pads from any fighting sport optional (will be providing some pads).
+Mouthpiece, required. No eye-gouging.
No biting. No pulling at lips or ears (fish-hooking). No groin strikes. No
+deliberate removal of safety gear.
No deliberate joint strikes (punching extended elbow, kicking knee to bend
+backward). No hair pulling.
This means there WILL be punching, kicking, throwing, wrestling, choking, joint
+locks, smothering with fat, and fatigue.

That being said, the idea is for people who are not really 'athletes' but rather 'geeks' to compete in an athletic event. It all started one day when 6 or 10 geeks were sitting around at work and one of them said. "I haven't been in a fight since junior high, I wonder what its like to get hit in the face?" Yes, they had seen Fight Club a few too many times, they got together with other geeks who were Ultimate Fighting Championship fans - otherwise known as Practitioners of Couch Jiu-Jitsu - and they came up with the sport of Geek Fighting.
It just like real Mixed Martial Arts, except that the participants aren't necessarily trained or in shape or even have a clue what they are doing.
The fighting ends when one guys says "I Quit" (or taps out) or when the crowd goes "Gasp" and just stops it. So far we have had only a few bruises, some scrapes, one busted lip and one strained MCL (its a knee thing I guess - I'm no athlete).
If you're interested in being a spectator - just show up. If you're interested in fighting contact Donald, rent a few MMA video cassettes, and then show up. Under NO circumstances should you feel compelled to exercise in any way shape or form. If you are not a geek, you may need to get into some geek related hobbies to qualify (work with Computers, buy Star Wars Figures, wear Star Trek Uniforms, play Dungeons and Dragons, or collect My Little Pony Collectables).
If you're still a bit intimidated - bring a buddy to fight against and the GFC veterans will coach both of you.
Geek Fighting Championship (GFC) does not exist - if it did though it would never and will never discriminate on the basis of sex, sexual orientation, or operating system preference.

Marty Miller has been to one as a spectator and I do believe he said he wanted to be in the next one.
I will have to call him up.

No really - we have had many many people show up and just watch - the guys we make fun of are the ones that tell all about how they're going to kick butt - and then mysteriously don't show up - ever.
