Their breakfast burritos are pretty sizable, decently tasty, and cheap - I can't remember paying more than 4 or 5 bucks.
As a sidenote, some place called America's Favorite Tacos is finally opened on 7th Street, just north of Palm Lane.
Another sidenote - one of the many things I love about Austin and south Texas is breakfast tacos.
If anyone has the hookup on breakfast tacos in Phoenix, make it known.
Del Taco is the only place that I've heard of that has breakfast tacos.

palette? tried it once, not my cup of tea.
we go into first watch on thomas sometimes. switch has a pretty good breakfast menu.
america's taco shop is actually open now? I'll have to give it a try.
salsita's is ok? the 24th st spot isn't too far away.
maybe it's cause I went to college in tucson, but I tend to think of breakfast burritos as primarily late night, like on the way home from a party, type food.
this is a good conversation :-)

I like a lot of things about Matt's, but one thing I do not like is the hashbrowns. And once I found some coleslaw in the bottom of my coffee mug after I had the whole slawcoffee.
um, that was the best breakfast ever slawcoffee and all......perhaps it had to do with the company!!!! seriously, a me, you, megan, amy, lauren, nathaniel and carrie breakfast BETTER be in the works for this holiday time.
but ps. i LOVE matts.

Also, I have no idea how I forgot about these two 7th Avenue mainstays:
- El Norteno on 7th Avenue & Roosevelt
I haven't eaten there in forever but I'm pretty sure it's good and cheap still.
- Azteca Restaurant & Bakery on 7th Avenue & Polk (I think), just north of Van Buren
Haven't been there in a while either, but it's always a favorite!
Further up 7th Ave (on Osborn, in the same strip mall as Peter Piper Pizza) is Eriberto's, too.

A great alternative to breakfast burritos ... if you like Lolo's fried chicken and omelets, you'll like their chicken breast omelet. They essentially just dump fried chicken into the egg.
Re: Mazzie's - good looking out! I want to check it out.
Re: Matt's Big Breakfast
I definitely dig Matt's, but I concede that the wait can be annoying. I've been lucky enough to get there just before a gaggle of people come through.
What's funny is that a friend and I went on the same weekend that people were shooting stuff for the aforementioned Food Network appearance. A couple that got seated actually requested to be sat at a table that would be in the background, rather then obscured by that partial wall thing. Their bratty intuition was correct since a famous Hollywood producer saw them in the background for 3 seconds, recognized their potential star power, and then cast them in the upcoming movie, Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2: 2 Fast 2 Furry-ous.

I'm always down with El Norteno...
You can't get much more downtown than that...
7th Ave & Rosie ...
What about Oaxaca? Amazing place, real ol' school downtown, not some fluffy pansy-ass place.
Fuck it, go to Carolinas and get some tortillas, get some soyrizo (the best thing evvvvvver), some whole pinto beans, queso fresco, potatoes, etc...& make your own...
