but for now, Metalocalypse takes the cake. Sure, neither season came out in 2008, but I discovered it in September and it helped me through a rough patch. <3 you, Toki

Torche ~ Meanderthal **
A few weeks ago I had a dream where I was on a school field trip at a museum, and before we went in, a shitty van with TORCHE spray painted on the side drove up. The side door opened up and the dudes inside were like "who wants a rip of this shit?". Everyone in my class looked at me, so I obliged. I hopped in the van and lit up a bowl. As I was doing so, the teachers came out, yelling all batshit like. The driver was like "let's get the fuck out of here!". The side door slammed shut and the Torchemobile sped off, with me inside. I thought to myself, "fuck yes."
I am a 33 year old man and I am not making this up.
Honorable mention
Xiu Xiu ~ Women as Lovers **
The Brian Jonestown Massacre ~ My Bloody Underground **
Meshuggah ~ Obzen *
Meshuggah wins best song for me, with "Combustion". Single for life, yo.

song of the year = "the rip" by portishead
gotta go with "hunter"
spooky sad perfection.
and as far as other cool 2008 things go:
californication. i just got into this show and it rocks. and a month ago, they made a reference to my tiny field of study, art therapy. extra bonus points. only downside is having to go elsewhere equipped with showtime to watch it. but they film in my neighborhood!
school of seven bells- alpinisms
this cd is killer
and seeing of montreal at the palladium. they covered smells like teen spirit and it WAS the biggest musical party i have ever seen. cannons shooting feathers. they never let me down.
