Star Trek vs. Star Wars: Pros cons, better worse

I don't even use that stupide Trekker handle--talk about revisionist BS.
I'm a dork, but ST hit me at just the right time in my pre-teens, and never let go.
I just like it more then SW.
But, I'll add this, neither franchise has been helped by their continued explotation.
Since ST: TNG each series/movie has been worse and worse.
I don't have high hopes for the "reboot" either.
SW: The new editions were mostly pointless changes to already good films.
As time passed it looked to me more and more like an attempt to exploit people's emotions for money.
And the most recent 3 flicks, barely missed/reached average.
Okay . . . smack me silly.

Even though I really don't like the new Trilogy much, I'm looking forward to the new Star Trek. I think not being a rabid fan helps. It could destroy the series and I probably wouldn't notice.

-trunkspaceAll the time when I tell people what I do they say, "Oh I don't understand art, I can't even draw." (or worse, "I only like art I can understand.") Well, ya know what, I don't know how to make a car, but I sure appreciate being able to drive one.

What has drawn me to Star Wars over the 'Trek, is the worlds they live in.
A federation of Planets living harmoniously with a couple ships that fly around and eff shit up from time to time? No way.
A World were there is a force under lying the dual battle between good and evil, with some worlds living very post apocalyptic and others living in decadence. Trade Unions and smugglers and political under handiness, all that is way more "realistic" plus the fucking Death Star was siiiick!

Don't forget Boba Fett!I don't mind Star Trek, its dork factor is a little higher than Star Wars, but both are pretty nerdy.

I'm a total Picard fan though, TNG is my favorite and I can only get behind Star Wars with the first three.. 4, 5 and 6. The newer ones are CRAP. Although I love Ewan as Obi. That dude that played anakin (hayben christianson or whatever) was one of the worst actors I've ever seen. And i'm with Hurley... ewoks ruined it all.
Data rules all. End.of.story.
