I am just skeptical of judgement. Whenever a lady at Target lifts her daughter by one arm and beats her ass for screaming too much until the little girl screams more, I think, that lady must know her daughter alot better than I do, because I would never yank a lil girls arm out of the shoulder socket and beat her in public. Judgement, Unluckycharm, is the guiding force in your own life, and yet when applied to others has a great chance of being innacurate. If this theory is true, the entire legal system needs to be cleaned to effectively enforce 3 laws, No Rapin', No Stealin', an No Killin'.
If I knew for a fact that we had progressed as a species to just completely have those 3 simple things worked out, the gift of life would truly be a gift without reserve. So I'm not really so worried that I wouldn't have kids as a protest, I understand the challenge that you mention and believe that to be a great motivator, I am sure that everyone that could stomach this post so far, is just quickly sickened by stupidity. When stupidity is applied before judgement, when anger is allowed to grow and define movements, when greed can cultivate legions of followers, I would like to know the correct words to say to my own kid, or to people I like, that might keep them out of those traps.
You can live in a mansion, you can live in the woods, you can look forward to things or you can despise your surroundings, there are actually alot of people I know that don't realise that their very attitude affects those around them. Just your mood is infectious, I guess some people can control that and some can't, it would be a horrible handicap not to be able to drive your own attitude, wouldn't it?
I like this thread. It's got real stuff in it, thanks. Well I do agree, judgement by other people is hard to swallow at times, especially when it seems like injustice occurs. And yet conflicts arise amongst people in a civil society, it's inevitable. So therefore there has to be a system set up with the potential to resolve conflict and/or administer justice. Otherwise our "civil" society would cease to be "civil" and simply be chaotic and run by the law of the jungle. I don't live with rose colored glasses on about the US legal system, nor am I an expert about it. But knowing what I do about some other legal systems in the world it seems to do its job adequately, not perfectly. There is always room for improvement, sometimes a lot of improvement.
So what to do about the messy and imperfect parts of the system, the sickening parts?

Thanks Yim, I was looking Iran up on Wikipedia today, it showed that the name Iran came from several different spellings of the word Aryan, home of the Aryan people, that would really piss off alot of racist white kids that thought that there was no way that they could be identifying themselves with "Iranians" rather than "Aryans" . Chaos indeed, it is the random that one has to handle, that makes a person better to themselves, easier to figure out what's on your own personal screen, then to guess what might be on everyone elses screen, as it were.embrace chaos, find god.
To this effect, to serve the truth I say absolutely throw out labels, no Right Wing no Left Wing. No Gay Hetero or Metro. No precidents in Law, only No Killin' No Rapin', and No Stealin'. I don't care if your spiritual, agnostical, methodist, hebrew, catholic you still need to eat, screw, be amazed at your own accomplishments, give and get some family love, and more and more as you get older, you need to be able to do for yourself what you need for your self, and teach people who ask how to do that stuff. Life is purdy simple. and much as we don't really get into death it happens to every body, so, instead of pushing for it, why not mildly look forward to it? Like the 29 billion people that died before us weren't just a bunch of whiners. I don't hear them cryin' about it, why should we?
No Labels. (I mean print what's in the food), but, no more Shia no more Sunni, no more Vegan No more "Non denominational Fundamentalist" no more Libertarian no more Whigs (oh yeah their ain't no more whigs), no Black People, No Mexaroos. No more labels because the people that claim them don't know what they really mean in all of history, and the people that accuse people of them don't know the benefits of someone that truly wore the label. The only label that would be completely accurate for you, is you. You might be special, you might rather not be special. Chaos Jim, is where we've been, where we hang out some times, and definately where we're goin. Pull the files out of the drawer, No More Labels.

If I was you I'd start thinkin' about Teachin', EMT'n, Farmin', Y'know some kinda work that had a tangible output for the end user. Not Spreadsheet writn', er report makin', you know like, can you really make a fire with 2 sticks o' wood? What about if everything shuts down? do you got friends that have been storing oatmeal? These little things Raub........, make you alot more usefull to your fellow man. The usefull trades Raubhimself, don't have anything to do with lobbyists, or lawyers, or credit ratings or positioning, they have to do with what you can actually do when you are needed. That feels good because the cosmos is grand.

I like knowing how to do things. It feels good, and I feel like I have an edge over all the TV-watching, Jon and Kate concerning, mouth breathing lummoxes I share my generation with.

We take the blue collar out of some of those skills, and you become the real person that people need around, you don't need complainers. You need people that actually work on stuff that might help you later. Musicians have a purpose because without unity you have lonliness. Your favorite bands are very tight, tight meaning creative in a teamwork way. Your best survival skill is anticipation, looking forward to a time when you can use old elementary skills to make life better for the people you know. Nobody told us this in public school because they would have been sued for saying so.I can make a fire pretty damn well if I do say so myself. I can wield an axe. I'm good at basic woodworking, coming up with basic functional designs (making skateboard ramps, hell yeah). I can solder and understand the basics of circuitry. I can cook pretty well. I was a boyscout and was once CPR certified. I know fishing. I wish I knew auto repair stuff.

I think life is meaningless and we're here to fart around and that's ok with me.
Raub I've also got tons of real world skills which most people around me seem to lack. I graduated from high school with almost enough credits to graduate twice. I can't ride a unicycle but I know how to operate pretty much everything else in the universe on wheels. I got a bunch of the boy scout skills, I learned to repair and maintain things instead of treating them as disposable when I grew up. I get sick of most jobs after about 6 months so I've acquired lots of skills over the years. I can read music, use computers. I feel extremely competent and I see a lot of chumps around me that can't do a lot of things for themselves. How can you live like that? Being a mediocre piece of shit?
I know exactly how difficult it is to build a pirate treasure chest out of hardwood using no power tools and then drag it into the wilderness to bury it.

You go to your local grocery store, you get a couple things you need and you watch other people, in perfect annonymity, and in perfect freedom. You could buy rubbers, you could buy tampons, almost no one would care. The checkout clerk has had your type through their aisle 470 times that day.
Give away your freedom by identifying yourself. Make other people know who the fuck you are. Then everyone can hang their problems on an existing label and no longer blame themselves for the things they do. They know where to assign the blame.
No One, is free. If you are No One, you share an identity with 7.3 billion other no ones. You share a life path with 28 billion people that have died before you. The less labels you claim, the less likely you are to have conflict.
If you only have 35 more years, what would you actually like to see yourself do? You wanna be the nicest person you've ever met? You wanna screw 24 hours a day? Do you wanna teach kids how to make new lives for themselves?
Tell the truth!!!!! Tell us what you actually see. I work in a corporation that thrives on suck ups and cronyism. Every corporation (maybe 15 or more) that I have worked in were the same. You dummy down the way you suck up in order to maintain personal dignity. On the other hand, you are only getting paid because you have a skill that no one else has. (that would agree to the employment terms that you have agreed to.)
So we become accepted, and we get comfortable, and in comfort, we die inside slowly and everyday.
There are only a few skills that people need each other for, the ability to provide medical treatmant, the ability to build stuff, the ability to teach others, and the ability to grow a food supply. Beyond that, getting rid of waste, helping random problems as they arise, Everyone is intelligent enough to be a provider of a core need. I wanna farm. Do I have a chance at that in todays economy? Yep, but I would have to stuff it down people's throat. Not fair for someone who want's to work hard at a vital need. Over.

I don't wanna go sweat and do work. I want people to love me because I'm a fat squishy American that has intellectual potential. Just potential that's all ya need ladies, you don't need actual accomplishments, you need no record of verified deeds, just what other people think they think of any given individual, that's PLENTY information.
So, you ever see a real hero? Someone who kicked way more ass than they should have with their own safety in mind? Could you do it?
