I try and not listen to the radio too much. But sometimes I do because I do not have a CD player or an Ipod and yeah I just want to hear it sometimes. I don’t really ever get mad at music even if its something I don’t really like I’m pretty open to the fact that there is a lot of different people that like different stuff. I’m pretty good at if something is good no matter what genre I can appreciate it. I know they are not really around or hip these days but Nickel Back makes me see red. I mean like throw my radio across the room and shout to the sky! Is there any one that really likes them? who are these people? I mean 311 don’t even make me this mad and I hate 311. I’m sorry this is out of nowhere and I just want to know, what song or band really makes you want to shoot your face?

I feel the same way. I also feel this way about Creed. They should do away with the death penalty and just make people listen to "Arms wide open" and "Photograph" over and over again.

When my car had a sound system, I used to hear Nickelback all the time. I don't hate the band, but couldn't the radio station choose something else to play? Or at least not play the same song once an hour?

Then again, it's been two years since I last had sound in my car, so I don't know if it's still the same way...

it's not that i can't stand nickelback. or creed. or any of those generic "alternative" rock bands that came out in the early 2000's. i harbor no ill will for the bands themselves. they're just doing what they love to do and getting paid a ton of money to do it. i'm jealous. the fact that their music is absolute shit is irrelevant.

what bothers me is the fans of those bands. the white trash (and borderline white trash) people who watch "according to jim" and eat dinner at applebees and so on and so on and so on... sorry if any of you like according to jim or applebees. but fuck, people, it's all mediocre.

oh, and yes, i know how inappropriate it is to categorize people with broad strokes like that. prove me wrong.

Nickelback definitely fit into that axis of mediocrity (along with According to Jim and Applebee's).

I have asked on several first dates :
Do you like Nickelback or Creed?
it is a VERY telling question.... I've gotten "yeah they're alright" ummm it was a TRICK question... NEXT!
Also one guy I went out with we were at a hockey game and i said "So what kind of music do you like?" He said "um... i dont know, backround music?" i said "Backround music??? what does that even mean?" "You know... whatever is playing in the backround... BACKROUND music." I am pretty sure I stared at him for a loooooong time and it got really awkward. Never heard THAT one.

When I was asked that question in my "dating" days, I would purposely say something that I knew the girl wouldn't like.

I would generally ask the girl first what she liked to listen to and the normal response was "anything except Country, what do you like?" and I would generally say that I pretty much hate everything except country.

Sadly, alot of people who rail against creed or nickel back would be very cordial to those band members in person, a nice hearty Gah you fuckin' suck would be replaced with Oh wow, your the bass player for nickel back? Wow. Who's that freak that sings "Fifteen there's still time for you hey fifteen, only a wish better than this, when you've only got a hundred years to live?" Who the fuck is that dillhole, bring him to a party at my place and I swear I will dress him down for stealing 2 hours of my life 3 minutes at a time, dulling my senses and my belief that all people are intelligent, and if he even pretends to defend his motivations for that rape of the listeners senses, I will cave in his skull with a pipe wrench. (not really, but I would escort him out immediately).

Creed and Nickelback albums (sometimes) have songs that are actually pretty alright. It's the songs that are chosen for radio and then polished to a high phony shine that are so extremely irritating. And of course, they sit them right in the middle of otherwise decent albums. It's like two entirely different markets colliding.
