i'm stoked about this, too. Is this supposed to be based on a video game or something?
Neil Blomkamp was originally slated to direct the Halo movie with Peter Jackson as producer. But Microsoft pulled out due to the budget being too high and not trusting that they could turn a profit from it. So after that deal fell through the two of them came up with another idea for a sci-fi movie and District 9 is what came out of that.

If it is like Alien Nation, I will probably like this movie.I don't care if it rips off a lot from Alien Nation, it still looks like one of the best sci-fi movies in ages.
It might be cheesy now, but back in the day I loved Alien Nation: both the movie with James Caan and the TV show with the guy who looked like the love child of Mick Jagger. I can't remember his name.
