Kudzu Reviews
At our old house, we had a bedroom on the south wall that would get pretty warm during the day in the summer. We knew that was going to be our daughter's room so we wanted it taken care of before she was born. Magic touch came out and added another vent to the room and was able to redirect additional airflow. It took care of the problem and was very reasonably priced. The work was top notch. It looks like the whole thing is original to the house.
We also use them for our A/C checkups. They've never tried to rip us off telling us something was wrong that wasn't. Our A/C units have always checked out fine.
I keep getting these spam snail mails from various companies saying there are tax breaks and rebates that total to $4,000 off a new A/C unit. So, maybe look into that, see how you can save some serious cash?

true.
we bought a new one back in march. there are instant rebates in varying amounts from the utility companies for buying the energy efficient models, as well as tax credits. i don't remember the specifics, but the new unit has to have a certain SEER rating in order to qualify. of course, the better the SEER rating, the more expensive the unit is, but in our case the rebate and tax credit made it cheaper in the long term. that, and the fact that our utility bills are lower.

anyway, the ficus trees we planted a couple months back are doing pretty good. we were using a soaker hose for awhile but then it cracked. so we went back to hand watering them once a day and have noticed a drastic improvement. i'm guessing the soaker hose simply wasn't set to run long enough. anyway, gonna set up a blog to track all that we're up to. nice and domestic rainbow-y. maybe that's the domain i'll get for it: domestic rainbow dot com. ha ha

we technically haven't started growing anything yet. now that it's starting to get cooler out, we'll be out there a lot more. i've mostly just been doing upkeep and getting the irrigation figured out. we still have to build our planter boxes and watering system before we get any seeds planted. my girlfriend is pretty much in charge of what we're going to plant. she's got a pretty huge list of things she wants to grow so i'm sure they're probably on there. i've been more concerned with getting everything built. oh, and bees.

We've got a multi-trunk ficus that we put in about 4.5 years ago, and have provided a crazy amount of water... and now the thing is finally starting to look like it'll be a nice big-ol ficus. Give em water, they'll grow fast. You might want to think about ways to cover it and warm it during the winter - they're really vulnerable to a freeze when small.
Also, in the large tree well under the ficus, we have a bed of strawberries - can't remember the variety, but my wife special ordered a variety that supposed to hold up better in the heat. They're spreading like crazy, it's a strawberry vs clover contest under the tree :-). No fruit this time of year, but there was a long stretch in the spring where we were getting tasty big berries. Hoping for a repeat next year... or maybe even this fall?
