these arent in any order, and didnt stick to "1 per year" either
MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE AS THE BLACK PARADE 2xlp-seriously.
TEAR IT UP/DOWN IN FLAMES split 7"-represents the best of the best from the 2000-2002 fast hardcore scene
HOT CROSS-cryonics LP-jittery angular beauty, the high point of one of the best bands of the decade
HATRED SURGE-black box 7"- the best powerviolence record since SPAZZ put out crushkilldestroy
DEAR LANDLORD-dream homes lp-perfect pop punk albums dont come around all the time
CONVERGE-jane doe 2xlp- nuff said, true believers!
ORCHID-chaos is me 12" ep- insanity.
THE ASSISTANT-s/t lp- i dont think ive ever heard a band that is as varied as this, and this is their opus
MARILYN MANSON-golden age of grotesque lp-the broken sound of a decaying circus
BLOOD BROTHERS-burn, piano island, burn lp-an emoviolence concept album? yes.
LAWRENCE ARMS-oh, calcutta lp the best album from the drunkest, happiest, saddest band in chicago
and this is with only putting 10 minutes of thought in here. it leaves out HENRY FIATS OPEN SORE, FAILURES, NEIL PERRY and dozens of others. oh and someone told me CHAOS IS ME may have came out in 99. whoops. oh and ialso picked 11. dont care.

I don't buy too many new records anymore because I'm old, jaded, and bitter.
Same here, and I don't keep up with the latest music anymore. Most stuff I listen too is at least a few years old, and then there's my old standbys.
I am relatively new to listening to local music so if I had to say what new music I have listened to and liked, I would have to say a lot of the bands I have seen play at the Ice house and Ruby Room, though.
As far as 2009 releases I bought this year, they are few:
Marilyn Manson: High end of Low
Yeah Yeah Yeahs: its Blitz
Iron and Wine: Around the Well
Heaven and Hell: the Devil you know
Depeche Mode: Sounds of the Universe
Prodigy: Invaders must die

I'm bad about keeping track of when things come out but both those Paint it Black records this year were awesome. The new russian circles is great.
Hey, I was struggling to think of things this year and well, there they are...but add the pelican one also.
