I hate to be this guy but the place sucked..... I'm sorry just because something exsits does not make it good. Quality does matter, not every venue is good or should remain open, not every band is good and deserves to play a show.
I'd much rather have quality over quantity.

anyways! I think there are a tons of venues that suck but if they are willing to do shows and arent a nazi white power group or like racist sexist homophobes then BAM whatever. I just dont think anyone can say that a place or a band doesnt deserve to play or have shows.

Only in this city would people be ok with "the sounds sucks, but oh well" when talking about a music venue. The atmosphere was horrible, and honestly the quality control... Any crap band that decided to say they play "music" was able to play there. There is nothing wrong with having a negative opinion about things that are not good, that is what makes people become better. If your venue sucks it closes, if your band sucks you don't get shows. When Scott ran modified back in the day the one thing he did that I thought was great is he actually listened to the bands that were trying to play there, if they were awful (not if he liked them, but thought they were an awful band) they didn't play there. There is nothing wrong with that, I don't care if someone's silly little ego gets hurt, maybe they should get better and not worry about it.
As far as all ages venues there will always be house shows I would rather go to a house shothen the phix
