So back in the day, it was cool when they had IRC and you could talk dirty with random women who were probably middle aged dudes and life was good.
Then AOL had (along with instant messenger and email) their Chatroom which brought all the crazies together who weren't as nerdy or intelligent and things got a little whacky.
I remember having an orkut account for like a month and never got into it, and then later got myspace.
I know I'm missing alot of other stuff out there, like Messageboards, Bulletin Board Services, etc, but I am just laying down that there has always been some sort of "Social" networking going on since the beginning of Internet.
Nowadays, there is Facebook, Twitter, linkedin, Buzz, I think yahoo and MSN have Myspace knockoff that nobody pays attention to, and the latest one I have come upon is foursquare.
I am all about social networking and everything BUT DAMN!!!!
Anyways, I guess I'm just wondering if there is stuff out there I didn't list and what your thoughts are on each of them.
(I purposely didn't include games like WOW and secondlife which are very social indeed but aren't really used through a web browser like everything else previously mentioned)
