SO the lesson (I guess) being to take care and don't ride alone at night if you have a nice bike :-)
I'll post if I can get a better description of the guy or his car.

I haven't got details, but have heard from someone I trust that there's been some armed robberies of downtown kids latetly. Happens at night, dudes riding alone on their fixed gears are approached by a guy driving a car - who happens to sport the hipster look himself - and he pulls a gun on them and steals their fixie.
SO the lesson (I guess) being to take care and don't ride alone at night if you have a nice bike :-)

wow. i'm usually all for effin' with hipsters but that's a little much.

I know hipsters are fun to make fun of but still just heard about a dude that was shot in the face for his bike in Texas.
Oh and single gears look like fixed wheel so watch out yalls

Because it de-values the bike. I think this is obvious.why doesn't the thief just do the right thing and run them over
value of a fixed gear bike < value of a dead fixed gear rider
