I haven't got details, but have heard from someone I trust that there's been some armed robberies of downtown kids latetly. Happens at night, dudes riding alone on their fixed gears are approached by a guy driving a car - who happens to sport the hipster look himself - and he pulls a gun on them and steals their fixie.

SO the lesson (I guess) being to take care and don't ride alone at night if you have a nice bike :-)

I'll post if I can get a better description of the guy or his car.

I think if anyone had asked me what a fixie was before reading this thread, my first guess would have been something to do with post-op trans-sexuals. I'm not hip on the lingo you kids use these days.
