how the f*ck did Ben Quayl get elected? Seriously?!
But, fewer of the horrible ballot propositions passed then I thought.
Minor minor victories all.
Of course, they did take an opportunity to get rid of Affirmative Action (107), and make it harder for people to unionize (113).
But, the state land bs died hard.
302 died, which would have raided the childhood ed/health fund.
203 was a real tossup this time, if it hadn't been a referendum on the Dems, it probably would've sqeeked out.
Guess alla ganja growers'll have to emigrate to CA for the time being.
It looks like enough people saw thru the lying title of prop 112, but just barely--that god for political nerds.
Same for 111, I like that we have a Sec. of State who moves to the Gov's office, and who might have a diff' set of priorities.
The more involved the SoC is in actual affairs, the better it is for us/their party--Jan was not, Bennet is.
Terry Goddard should not have run for Gov this time, period. He is a bad campaigner, and would have done much better against a non-incumbant, esp after 1070 was proposed.
There are any number of Dems NOT holding office here who could have lost just as well against Jan.
On a National level, I think the Dems just didn't have the strength to put up a fight.
I don't think they were organized on the states level either.
For that matter The Reps weren't really organized themselves (unless they were just secretly runing all those tea party candidates, hmmmm) but they'll benefit from all these 'grass roots activists' who got in office w/ their hate campaigns.
Dems should start learning the Rep playbook and get some blue ballot measures on the ballots (you know, BESDIES pot), stuff that benefits families or whatnot.
It seems to be a vastly under used tool on the Dem side.
Now, it's a redistricting year, and the majority of the states have Red legislatures I believe, which means they still have them for the next 10 years.
Although, it could be really funny and interesting if some of those winners are as batsh*t crazy as they come across.
Could be a 'fun' year for everyone and maybe teach the population that, "oh yea, there's a reason for all these wonky boring beurocrats."

Over 1/3 less young people turned out to vote yesterday than did in the 2008 presidential election.
Pitiful.
I voted and feel good about doing so.
It makes me feel like as much as people gripe about shit, very few (liberal minded) individuals are willing to pull the trigger on
their own decision for how things are runs here. I mean, literally, this is about as much choices as we actually get.
An analogy:
Your car is broken. It still runs but obviously needs repair.
You really do not have a choice as to where to take it as there is only one car repair shop in town.
When you get there you have a choice between mechanics and what work is to be done.
Instead you decide to take a nap; you dream of a utopia where everyone is honest and lives a wonderful, carefree life.
When you wake, You will be charged for whatever work THEY decided to do on your vehicle.
This work may or may not have fixed your vehicle, but you do still owe a fee.
Your vehicle may not even be able to start now, since the mechanics have removed the engine.
When you ask them about this they each point to the other mechanic.
You now call for a tow truck to get your now unworking vehicle home, only to hear the phone ringing near where
you stand and one of the mechanics picks up the phone.

i'm very upset about the outcome of this election in AZ.
SAD SAD SAD
i guess people just dont care about what little freedoms they have left. They got their TVs and giant homes and big trucks, they don't need anything else right? walk the streets of phoenix after 7pm and the tv flickers from every home window. mindless zombies
they only have power because we give it to them
i'm not going to give them any more power, i dont accept it and i wont live by it

they had jan's victory thing on the news last night. her voice is so utterly horrifying that it seemed to actually be causing my speakers on my tv to distort. she sounds like the lovechild of urkel and the witch from the wizard of oz talking through a weed whacker.

god this is the first time i've really really really contemplated moving away from this cesspool. i always say i'm going to stay and fight but i think it might be time to call this a battle lost and leave this beautiful state....
When I think how good the Republicans did across the country in the state legislatures, and reflect that they will be in charge of redrawing the congressional districts, it makes me daydream of not leaving just the state but the whole country.
The one and only silver lining is that Sarah Palins picks did shitty, so she is not the kingmaker she preteneded to be, maybe now she will finally go into the dustbins of history and we wont have to hear about her anymore.

1) reagan/bush 1 had a largely democratic congress, it was inherited by bill clinton when he won in 92 and then in 94 the whole country freaked out and elected a republican majority. clinton went on to win again (easily) in 96.
2) bush 2 inherited that republican congress when he "won" in 2000, and then in 02 the whole country freaked out and elected a democratic majority. bush went on to win again (easily) in 04.
elections are cyclical. but let's not forget the democrats fucked themselves in the ass with the whole healthcare thing. before, during, and after the 08 election, all anyone cared about was the economy. it was in the shitter. the priority for the democrat powerhouse should have been to fix it. instead, they said we should focus on healthcare reform. now i'm all for healthcare reform, but FUCK!?!?!!. FIX THE MOTHERFUCKING ECONOMY FIRST. at least make an effort!! idiots. no wonder you fucking lost. people hated republicans so much in 2008 that obama could have killed a nun on live tv and he still would have won. and you fucked it up. well played. all you had to do was not fuck up and you could have sewed up a democratic majority for the next several years.

more of this stuff is to come and i honestly dont want to be giving my tax money to a local government that is going to use it to continue to take away my rights and treat me like a second class citizen while it hunts down and arrests my friends for being dark skinned and drives away business from this state so no one can get a fucking job.
midterm elections dont mean too much on the national level but we're fucked here

BUT locally, the only positive I see is that managing the AZ govt over the next few years is going to be an ugly, ugly affair. And whatever happens, it's 100% the fault of Republicans. Whether they can smokescreen it enough with blaming brown people, I don't know (people are pretty effing dumb), but their inability to govern should ensure a fairly quick shift of blame back their direction.
Goddard didn't really want the job that bad, else he would have tried harder :-) let Brewer & co. go down spectacularly (per Bush) and try to frame yourself as a viable alternative (per Obama).

Today's morning was a sad one for must of us... Arizona will have the leaders they deserve, if you didn't vote then don't complain, just sit, and enjoy the ride down to hell.
this is what is going to piss me off. I know people who didn't vote and I know they are going to be complaining about the election.
I will kindly let them know people complaining about what's going is reserved for those who actually did something about it, like voting!
