there needs to be a "depends." on if you're the dumper or the dumped. although it probably sucks either way. just more for one person than the other.
i agree that it depends.
i disagree that it sucks either way. i've actually celebrated after breaking up. in fact, i've even celebrated after being dumped. it was one of those scenarios where i wanted it to end, badly, but it was significantly more complicated than just saying "hey, i'm out!" so she did it for me, and i was STOKED.

the "sucks either way" is mostly due to having to split up possessions, someone has to move out, you have to tell everyone and explain the whole thing (or at least have a million people ask), it's usually awkward when you run into them later, etc.. it doesn't always have to suck but the overall experience, while it can be a relief, is usually unpleasant.
