listening:
"Il Voyage En Soitaire (Comme Un Guerrier)" - Gerard Manset
at work, i ran across this strange 3-LP anthology of Manset's recorded output that was issued in the early 1980s - it documents the first stage of his recording career, shortly before his decade-long abandonment of music and solitary forays into the worlds of international travel and authorship of novels - unexpected, to say the least -
"Music For 18 Musicians" - Steve Reich
a performance of this piece last month by Crossing 32nd Street (a Phoenix-based musical collective that is grossly underappreciated in Phoenix, AZ) led me to the recording - hypnotic and illuminating -
the price of most Sun City Girls' releases are going up fast - you should probably buy them before they disappear FOREVER -
The ("mighty") Fall will be playing at Hotel Congress on Saturday, May 6th - in support of...
"Fall Heads Roll" - The Fall
the slickest and most visceral The Fall album since...when? - sometimes doesn't even involve Mark Smith - fun, wonderful, cerebral party album -
also, the (somewhat) original lineup of Acid Mothers' Temple and the Melting Paraiso U.F.O. will be playing at Plush in Tucson on Thursday, May 4th - their new album will be on sale there -
P.S. - death cab for cutie, modest mouse, flaming lips, franz ferdinand, bright eyes, rilo kiley, jimmy eat world, the shins, mogwai, tv on the radio, built to spill, radiohead, the rapture, death cab for cutie, modest mouse, flaming lips, franz ferdinand, bright eyes, rilo kiley, jimmy eat world, the shins, mogwai, tv on the radio, built to spill, radiohead, the rapture, death cab for cutie, modest mouse, flaming lips, franz ferdinand, bright eyes, rilo kiley, jimmy eat world, the shins, mogwai, tv on the radio, built to spill, radiohead, the rapture, death cab for cutie -

-trunkspaceAll the time when I tell people what I do they say, "Oh I don't understand art, I can't even draw." (or worse, "I only like art I can understand.") Well, ya know what, I don't know how to make a car, but I sure appreciate being able to drive one.
