Hmm. Looks like I need to pick up the new Battles and quietly sob as I listen to it, knowing I will miss their Phoenix gig.

The new Dinosaur Jr. album is a time machine. I am back in middle school again. This album pretty much sums up an era.

country rock albums to look into:

dillard and clark: the fantastic expedition of dillard and clark
the first magnolia electric company album (i think it was under the 'songs ohia' banner)
grateful dead: american beauty (beautiful album, not really any long jammy stuff, mostly all country ish)
the band: i'd say get a greatest hits, but the 1st album is considered a masterpiece.

tierra del fuego - saturday night swindle ... get it at stinkweeds or cd baby! it's terrific.

Dan Deacon ~ Spiderman of the Rings

So yeah, I haven't been this strangely giddy about an album in a while. It's fucking weird shit, but it makes me smile every time I listen to it.

This is getting heavy rotation in the car for sure.

Along with Genghis Tron, whom has had permanent fixture in my car CD player for the last month. (Fellow metal fans, please ignore the silly name and check out GT.)

EDIT: I still need to check out Old Man Gloom, and I've ordered 2 Karp albums online, neither of which have actually arrived.
